Dobson & Parnell is a bustling, smart, reliable and grown-up restaurant on Newcastle’s vibrant quayside. Its understated elegant dining room adds a touch of Victorian glamour and comfort.

Specialising in perfectly-executed, refined European cuisine, using ethically-sourced local seasonal produce direct from nearby farms and markets, the sustainable kitchen specialises in preserving techniques such as curing, smoking, salting, brining and fermenting.

My least favourite elements of a Sunday Roast are Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes because they are so often disappointing...not here! If these two items were always as good as this, they would be lots further up on my list. The rest of the plateful matched up. So far as starter and dessert are concerned, I can't remember a previous Sunday Lunch menu when I even had the option of anything as exciting as Jerusalem artichoke and truffle risotto for the one or dark chocolate mousse with poached pear and hazelnuts for the other. Both were outstanding. It was a minor disappointment that I wasn't able to have apple sauce with my pork... because the chef hadn't finished making it...which seems to me to be an indicator of why I have never had a meal in this restaurant which has been less than excellent.

Booked set menu of £25 for 3 courses as part of Newcastle Restaurant Week. All courses absolutely delicious. Particular highlight was the crème brûlée with homemade shortbread…could have eaten a plateful of the shortbread. Service attentive but not too much which felt comfortable. Really good VFM

We booked a table as part of restaurant week. The quality of food, customer service and overall experience was first class. My wife is Coeliac; hence, required Gluten Free options. There was plenty available and they also adapted a desert course to accommodate her request.

Lovely meal at lunchtime for Newcastle Restaurant week. Very good value, quality of food and presentation was exceptional for the price

The food, service and ambience was excellent. I have dietary issues and Luke our server was very understanding and diligent about this he went above and beyond making sure I was aware of any items I could not have. The other waiter was very good also and both very friendly, knowledgeable about the food and attentive. We'd highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious meal and excellent service. Only slight issue is it was rather cold in the restaurant (granted it was the coldest night of the year so far!). We will be back I'm sure.

Had a gourmet experience (bought as a Christmas present for hubby). Wow! Cocktails fab, nibbles amazing, starters and mains incredibly generous. Desert one of the best ever (treacle tart). No room for our cheese course so staff kindly said we could have it next time we visit. Service here is always exemplary and having familiar faces to serve us is a bonus.
