Dobson & Parnell is a bustling, smart, reliable and grown-up restaurant on Newcastle’s vibrant quayside. Its understated elegant dining room adds a touch of Victorian glamour and comfort.

Specialising in perfectly-executed, refined European cuisine, using ethically-sourced local seasonal produce direct from nearby farms and markets, the sustainable kitchen specialises in preserving techniques such as curing, smoking, salting, brining and fermenting.

Troy’s menus change daily depending on the freshest produce he can find & he uses ethically-sourced local, seasonal produce direct from nearby farms & markets. Too expensive for the portion of food. Quality of food excellent but definitely needs improvement in the quantity. nothing to say in regards to the service, great manners of the waiter. Tables did not have a table cloth, which for the cost of the food and its quantity I would have expected it.

We were so looking forward to the fine dining experience we have had at the restaurant previously, unfortunately this fell well short. The starters had few components and we waited approximately 40 minutes from placing the order. The waitress did apologise and point out this was the first night of the new menu, but really Im sure they had prepared the dishes previously. Very basic for the price. The main meals, the monkfish had a large amount of potatoes, no other components to balance flavours etc. I had the mushroom, leek and blue cheese wellington. The leeks totally dominated, hardly any flavour of blue cheese and couldnt taste mushroom at all. Rather than fine dining, it was like a pasty cut in half on the plate with a bit sauce. Luckily i ordered fries or it would have been a very boring meal. For £19 I didnt think this was value for money. We had planned on ordering desserts but decided against it as the menu descriptions arent living up to what is being served. Sorry it we felt very let down for what should have been a birthday celebratory meal.

This was our second visit, once again the food was excellent and the staff friendly and attentive. We had the set menu which is really good value for the quality of the food. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody.

Dobson and Parnell was a bit different with an interesting and varied menu. Several interesting combinations and different dishes. Some of the old favourites were there too but I enjoyed tring different things like the coriander humous starter and the dark chocolate mousse with sour cherries Service was just right. Attentive but not rushed The restaraunt was quiet when we arrived early but it was busy and had a pleasant ambience as more people joined. The prices are reasonable value for a good quality restaraunt in the centre of Newcastle I would definitely be happy to return next time I'm in the area

Fantastic Quayside eatery serving contemporary food in a relaxed setting. Beautiful dining room designed by the restaurant namesakes. Great choice of delicious starters, main and desserts. Friendly and efficient service and laid back atmosphere. The quality, presentation and menu choices were all superb. We took advantage of restaurant week and cocktails and were not disappointed. We visited Dobson and Parnell as part of Newcastle Restaurant Week. The staff were very welcoming, and the service throughout our visit was excellent. The food was top quality, and very good value. We will definitely return.
