Welcome to dLeña, a Wood-Fire Mexican Cocina & Mezcaleria by Chef Richard Sandoval.

dLeña is derived from the Spanish word “leña,” meaning firewood. The restaurant is centered around it’s wood-burning grill - a nod to the rustic open-fire cooking techniques of Mexico’s past.

The menu transports diners to Mexico through a multi-sensory experience in every bite of the signature smoked entrées, fresh ceviches, and unique sharing plates. The expansive bar features hand-crafted margaritas, Latin cocktails, cervezas and vino.

The food was good, some of the food was over salty, the waiter was amazing but the dishes weren’t explain. Music to loud.

Very creative and delicious food and drinks. Had the Guava margaritas. One virgin and one regular. They were both good and found that the taste became better once paired with the crab guacamole. I also had another mango margarita that was sweeter and more to my liking. The crab guacamole was our favorite of the three dishes we had. The short rib tacos were beautifully presented and delicious. Nice spices. The wagu empanadas were tasty but not as good as the other two for us. The staff is great and very friendly.

The food was absolutely amazing, and the prices were very reasonable, making it an excellent value for the quality offered. On top of that, the ambiance was just perfect – cozy, inviting, and with great attention to detail. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a memorable meal. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We were really excited to try this restaurant especially after waiting two weeks for a reservation. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the hype. We were seated at high table in the middle, and the host's attitude was unwelcoming. While the waiter was kind, the food was very spicy-even after I requested a less spicy option, it came out just as hot .Overall, it was a bit of a disappointment .

Experience was awesome. Great date night spot or just hanging at the bar. Forrest our waiter was awesome and loved the experience. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

Food, service, and experience was great! This was on the more expensive end, but it was all you can eat and drink for two hours. The bartenders and waiters were helpful, kind, and fast-paced. The team was also very responsive for allergy concerns. Overall great experience!

I want to start by saying that if it wasn’t for Noa and Kristyana we would’ve left the restaurant. I totally understand policy but when you are dealing with people specifically managers they need to be a little nicer and not rude. The manager by the name of Justice was very rude to me and the people in my party. I believe when we are running a business we need to be polite and he wasn’t. I would go back just for Noa and Kristyana that made our experience AMAZING. That is the only reason made gave all fives otherwise it would’ve been ZERO.

First time there and glad discovered this beautiful restaurant. The decor was simple yet authentic. The service was just enough to not make us wait too long. We attended the brunch service where the chef brings out food to your table-what a treat! Every plate was more delicious than the last. The ambiance was energetic, great place for an event or to have a great time with friends. dlena is not on my top 3 for fave places to dine in DC.

Food, drinks, and service were great! My only suggestion is to work on pacing of the food coming out. We ordered two rounds of appetizers and main dishes, but everything seemingly came out at once which cluttered the table.
