Welcome to the Cliff Hotel in Gorleston-On Sea, a hotel and restaurant with unrivalled views of the Norfolk and Suffolk coast.

The Cliff Hotel dates back to 1890 when the original hotel was opened, in 1915 the building was ravaged by fire and demolished. The old staff accommodation was renovated into a new hotel, the building that we currently occupy today.

We have a vast selection of dining options from our relaxed art-deco inspired MUSE restaurant, our vibrant bar dining area or one of the biggest outside dining terraces in Norfolk.

Wherever you decide to eat our menus will give you a huge variety of choice from fresh fish to steaks and grills. Alternatively we have lighter snacks and a range of classic dishes to delight all tastes.

The hotel is situated 2 minutes off the main A47 road, 17 miles east of Norwich. Nearest train station is in Great Yarmouth, a 10 minute taxi ride away. There are regular bus links to Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, the nearest bus stop is on Avondale Road. Domestic and international flights can be arranged from Norwich international airport.

Due to the weather, I couldn’t sit outsource and enjoy the views. Decor inside was nice. Staff were pleasant and efficient.

Was here last year and we thought it was great food So decided to try it again and it did not fail Absolutely lovely food once again. great service from Rik WILL BE BACK AGAIN

The staff were very accommodating as we moved tables 3 times as my elderly parents were feelung the breeze. Although not too busy the staff took a while to serve us. Food very nice.

I informed the hotel that there were allergies to fish & nuts when I booked, also told the waitress this as well, twice, they sent out tuna sandwichs!...which the waitress apologized for & took plate away, we then had to wait 25 mins for more sandwiches to arrive!...which in the meantime all the rest of the food, which included butter & cream was melting in the sun, when sandwichs did arrive we had to ask for replacement butter & cream & the mini trifles had melted!.....not impressed, won't dgo there again...

After our visit last year the place seems to have taken a nose dive. We dressed to make an effort, read reviews and appreciated that dress code for men was “no shorts” - warm evening for outside dining but never mind! There were men in shorts, even swim shorts. Food was average, the place itself was scruffy, piles & trays of used glasses piled on the bar were an eyesore.

Thank you for your review, shame to see you feel this way. I would like to clarify that we do not have a 'no shorts policy' and we haven't had one for quite a while. I quite agree that wearing full trousers on a terrace in the summer heat would be too much for me too.

Food was fine, main issue was having to wait 20 minutes for drinks to arrive and 50minutes for food. Appeared understaffed on the evening, couldn't comment on if this is usual staffing level or we hit a bad night. Having said this, we would go back again if staying in the hotel

Overall it was ok. We had booked outdoor seating but were placed inside which was a shame.

Service was slow, drinks took a long time to make although they were already pre mixed, not the nicest we’ve had, We had to ask for drinks rather than the staff coming over to us, Food was like Wetherspoons, Very disappointing in all, I did speak with the manager to make him aware who was apologetic and offered us a round of drinks as an apology, Unfortunately we will not be returning for bottomless brunch again
