All of our dining will be either 6.30 or 7.00pm starts, unfortunately we will not be able to offer any later tables.

Our Adult only fine dining restaurant has been awarded two rosettes by the AA for the quality of our food.

We aim to host the majority of our summer and early autumn dining, alfresco in our newly built under cover outside dining experience in the garden. IMPORTANT ! when booking during this period please note, dining maybe inside or outside and will be weather dependent and whilst we understand that some of you may book with us to experience the outside booths, on the night should the weather becomes extreme, we unfortunately may need to move the dining experience inside. .

PLEASE NOTE DRESS CODE IS SMART CASUAL FOR DINNER:

We had a delicious meal at Sutherland House on Wednesday evening. The food was excellent and the ambience was lovely for a special occasion.

The best restaurant in Southwold by far.pleasant greeting by staff, excellent menu, delicious food served timely by attentive host and staff. Thoroughly recommend and will definitely revisit when next in Southwold.

On the booking page was asked if it was a special occasion,I ticked anniversary but there was no nod or mention of that at the restaurant so it became just a dinner out..

Lovely experience, delicious food and great service. It would have been nice to have some background music, not too loud but helps elevate the atmosphere. We will be returning next year!

We have dined at Sutherland House many times. The reason being, that the quality of the food and standard of service is second to none. Last Friday, we were fortunate to eat outside in their lovely garden, pure bliss. We look forward to our next visit. Many thanks David & Lesley

Sutherland hotel is a very welcoming restaurant with excellent food and a very friendly host. When we’re next in Southwold will we visit again.

A visit to Sutherland House is a regular part of our Summer holiday in Southwold. It is by far the best restaurant in the town, but not the most expensive by a long chalk! The food is lovely: you can see why they have 5 stars; the staff are wonderfully relaxed and welcoming. It really feels more like being hosted by a family than eating in a fancy restaurant. This year, there were welcome additions: a well-chosen flight of whisky is on offer, which we shared and very much enjoyed. Better _even_ than that: we were privileged to be served a cheese board! This may not sound like a special event, but cheese has been off the menu here since lockdown, and has been sadly missed! Normally, one might complain at having to wait 4 years for a restaurant to serve what you've ordered, but in this case I am delighted :)
