We’re located in a beautifully restored former Wood Turning Mill and Dyehouse, with Riverside Garden and Wild Flower Meadow, with decor embracing our post-modern industrial heritage with the warmth and energy of an Italian Piazza.

The 4 of us arrived early to have a pre dinner drink. It was busy but we waited 10 mins for someone to take our order. Then 3 drinks were delivered and after a further 5 minutes we had to ask for the 4th. Once we were seated at our table we had to ask for someone to take our order. Our wine and food arrived and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was excellent apart from one of our party ordered broccoli with orange zest and almonds as on the menu. When it arrived it was plain broccoli, this was pointed out to the server who went to the kitchen to ask why it wasn’t as stated on the menu. She came back and said the chef said they are too busy so plain broccoli is all that is on offer. This should have been pointed out when the order was taken and an alternative offered. We mentioned this to a more senior staff member, who was most apologetic and deducted it from our bill and said that it shouldn’t have happened. 2 of us have been to Devour before and always had a fantastic experience from both the food and service. We had raved about it to our friends who were looking forward to a great dining experience and unfortunately it fell a bit short. The restaurant was very busy and despite that the serving staff did a fantastic job, although some of them appeared a little harassed.

The 4th drink that you waited for was ordered a little later than the other drinks which would have explained the small delay. Unfortunately not the usual standard expected. Pizza only had cheese in the middle, meaning that there was crust, sauce and toppings for the majority of the pizza. Pizza was also overdone with semolina flour to the point where it took away from the taste. I wanted to speak to the waitress to complain, but we were asked to vacate our table for a later sitting, therefore I felt I couldn’t speak my mind as I was being rudely ushered out. Really ruined my evening

The food was delicious, the service friendly and professional and the restaurant itself is attractive and comfortable, with plenty of parking. The menu isn't huge, but the choice is good enough and a nice mix of the traditional and the inventive. Ingredients are all of the highest quality. It's not the cheapest place to eat, but given the quality of the food, I think it represents pretty good value. I don't drink, so I can't comment with authority on the wine list, though I thoroughly enjoyed my non-alcoholic cocktail. It is also the first restaurant I have been in for years which automatically offered tap water for the table, without having to ask. This should be a given in all restaurants, especially here in Yorkshire, where the tap water is so good - it costs nothing and is always appreciated. All the food we had was perfectly cooked. The Gelato is homemade and is some of the best I have ever had - including in Italy Whilst accessibility is excellent throughout the restaurant, including the toilets, I only really had one minor niggle - I am 60, and my eyes aren't quite as good these days . . . the "mood" lighting, whilst looking attractive, is a bit dim, and the menus are printed in quite a small font - I had to use the torch on my phone to read the menu! It's not anything that would stop me going back, and to be honest, everything else about Devour is so good, I almost feel embarrassed mentioning it. Maybe they could have a couple of menus in "large print" for old duffers like me? I also love the fact that they have a great selection of recipe books for sale - if you feel inspired after eating there, you can try and repeat the experience at home!

This was our first visit and we booked our next visit before we left! It was that good. The decor and ambiance is wonderful and we loved the low lighting. The plants soften things and the bar furniture is ascetically pleasing, as well as super comfy. The menu is brilliant and the choice on the specials was fantastic. The food is brilliant . The seafood obviously fresh and the homemade pasta was a triumph. Very decent wine by the glass. Good portion sizes. You will leave feeling full! Overall we feel this was excellent value for money. Possible improvements… offer a cheeseboard instead of dessert and maybe nominate just one member of staff per table to check on drinks/if happy- we felt constantly interrupted with 4 people asking us at frequent intervals about drinks and if we liked the food. We prefer a more discreet and less frequent approach. But maybe that’s just us…

Very attentive to begin with and our special request was read and received. The starters were amazing but it wasn’t great after that, we felt rushed and 1 of our sides was burnt and the other was cold. This was replaced by hot vegetables. The whole place was cool and when sat finishing our drinks it was positively freezing. Once we moved from the table we were ignored and not spoken to when we left, even though we said bye. Not sure we would return. We had gone for a special occasion and I feel let down.

First visit and sat on high top table which we really enjoyed. Excellent service and fantastic food. Tempura prawns as starter on specials menu were superb. Will definitely visit again soon. The waiting staff were very attentive and extremely friendly. A very lovely evening all round.

Devours looked welcoming, the staff were attentive, the atmosphere was very comfortable and the meal excellent. Even so, had it not been our Golden Wedding anniversary and a very special occasion for us, I think we would have found the bill on the expensive side and will save any future visits for very special occasions.
