We used to frequent Porta via quite a bit and had been looking forward to trying the place. I know this place was supposed to be a little more upscalebut it came across as snooty and disappointing. My daughter’s pasta, a $28 dish of six noodles with some bacon sprinkled in, was cold. And their $10 basket of bread was warmed up pitas- which I love pitas, but meh. The owner/manager/I’m not sure who he was the portly man wearing a windowpane jacket was all over the place gladhanding people, but studiously avoided my table with me and my two kids, which my son wasn’t wearing a collared shirt, but still. We spent $300 here for an appetizer and two entrées, a (bland,soggy) pizza and a bottle of wine, and I can definitely say it wasn’t worth it. go to the Italian market down the Block better food, friendlier servers and way less bougie atmosphere

Hi, portly man here! I can definitely say that the market down the road will be a much better fit for the food knowledge you expressed on this review. The market down the road are good friends and I always recommend them to who wants an italian-american experience. The pita is focaccia bread, served hot also, we don't use bacon but guanciale and our carbonara is not made with " half and half " and served boiling as the fake once you are accustomed to eat. We are bougie because we are trying to give our community an upscale place where guests that want to dress up for dinner, don't have to see ugly toes or offensive t-shirts. You have many choices in Town, unfortunately we are not one of them for you and I'm truly sorry. Lastly, you were not ignored, all my guest once in are pampered.Ciao

Decent food A little pricey. Quiet atmosphere. There are a-lot of Italian restaurants, so will check out other places, then maybe come back at a later time for another try. Overall, halibut was above average, gnocchi with pistachio was average.

Deluca’s was fantastic! The food is phenomenal and beyond comparison. Great Seafood house made pasta tasty truffles personal service. An experience you will remember and want to relive.

DeLuca prides itself on bringing Rome to Nashville, and it certainly lived up to it on many fronts, even down to the water. Speaking of which, you have the option of a bottle of still or sparking water (would have asked for ice water, but that’s probably a faux pas). On to the food, the burrata and prosciutto was excellent, with the prosciutto less salty than I expected. That salt was made up for with the bread, a basket of thin dough that was baked to perfection. Next, the gnocchi with pistachio - amazing, full stop. Then tried the calamari and shrimp main. It’s hard to find good fried calamari around these parts, so this was welcomed. Lastly, we (yes, I did not eat this on my own) had the tiramisu. Points on presentation, but a little light in flavor. Service was excellent - Jennifer was highly attentive and paced out the dishes nicely. Let’s talk money. DeLuca’s ingredients are top-notch and you’ll pay commensurately for them. Anything with truffles are labeled as market price and, again, it seemed like a faux pas to ask what that price was. The ambiance has changed little since the spot’s former incarnation, Porta Via. That was kind of a bummer considering the higher price point.

Dined with friends at DeLuca last night. We were so happy with the experience. The food was delicious. Angelo was very helpful in many ways. The staff was courteous and attentive. It was a little loud for us but it will not deter us from returning and having another delicious meal. Loved it!

Unfortunately we were disappointed in this new Italian restaurant. Despite the rave reviews, and the fact that the chef/owner comes from Italy, our dishes were not impressive. My son’s Carbonara was served in a delightful “nest” of Parmesan cheese, but the pasta was not a linguine, and the bacon was practically non-existent. My gnocchi Bolognese was bland, the pasta was underdone and too soft. My husband’s Margarita pizza had a thin crust but was not baked completely. It was soggy and chewy, not crispy — not even slightly burnt on the crust. I was also surprised to feel rushed through our meal. The usual niceties of an Italian restaurant like, EVOO or crushed red pepper or fresh ground pepper or even freshly grated Parmesan were all missing! And our server never asked if we wanted any of these things, or fresh baked bread, even though that cost extra. Our antipasto of Procuitto, Buffalo mozzarella and arugula was delicious, but that is not reason enough to return. Too bad. We really wanted to be impressed, but I’d say it’s just another mediocre Italian restaurant in a town filled with great places to eat.

Dear Caidog, Carbonara is not served with linguine but with rigatoni on the real recipe, if restaurants use bacon are cheap and wrong. Guanciale must be used as the " meat " on the dish and I assure you that more than 2 oz of it is served with every dish. Pasta is either underdone or soft cannot be both at the same time. If the pizza was under cooked, I sincerely apologize, and we'll look into it. Serving EVOO, red peppers flakes, parmesan cheese or pepper is NOT Italian and we do not serve such items just as much as are not offered it in any Italian restaurants in Italy. Lastly, all that you wrote, is about mediocre wannabes Italian restaurant that are in Town. We are true Italian cuisine and experience that is maybe for everybody but not for everyone. Sincerely.
