I always enjoy my experience at Delfina and last night was no different. Additionally I brought my boss and the CEO of our company. Both enjoyed the meal immensely and reminded me that we'd been before. The food is incredible and the service is impeccable. I will continue to visit when I am in town.

Absolutely delicious!!! So many amazing choices on this menu…. It was hard to choose. I must go back and try more items. Neighborhood gem and a must for anyone coming to San Francisco.

The food was terrible and the service even worse. The level of salt made the food inedible. What was worse was the service. Waitress recited an inability to address allergies. She was not friendly and we did not feel welcomed. Other people next to us commented on being unimpressed. The food was so salty you can’t even eat it let alone enjoy it. They saw we didn’t eat the food yet oh well. They don’t even serve iced tea or warm tea. Very odd restaurant. No shellfish. Pictures do not match their photos listed. Menu items do not reflect what’s on.

Absolutely Spectacular (on all levels) might be an understatement. Raised alongside my Italian (immigrant) grandparents, it can be very challenging to find the real deal/true Italian cuisine. That being said, we started with the Pane a Pala ~ bread ($7) and yes, you must do the Bellweather ricotta ~ spread (+$9 ) along with it . . . now, there is no turning back, as in you might be thinking would it be embarrassing to now ask for this again, but as a main/entrée? Then the grilled Monterey Bay Calamari showed up (not breaded) with beans, olives and parsley oil . . . Caution, this might be a trick, as guess what? Yes, our bread somehow disappeared and we (of course) now needed more for the dipping of the olive oil. Ok, silence please, cue the music . . . the Trippa alla Fiorentina arrives at the table steaming/still bubbling in a Staub cast-iron pan ($19) which transported me back to the basement, where my grandmother would be working on something like this throughout the entire day, if not for days . . . Simply Magical. Only because of my upbringing and having to continue with tradition, there’s more food coming (lol) yes, ending with the pasta ~ Ricotta Cavatelli with lamb meatballs ($28) will leave you wanting to make another reservation (while still sitting/eating at your table) for the following night.

The food continues to be great!! Always a stellar choice. My favorites were the butter beans and the tripe. Sooooooo good.

The pomodoro is a required experience, so have it once and get on with the rest of the menu, which is exceptional (or split a pomodoro). We do not live in SF, but visit frequently and Delfina is a requirement, although get a reservation a few days out and 5:30 PM, when they open, is often available. Over our last two visits, we tried the burrata and fresh tomatoes (exceptional because the tomatoes were vine-ripened beauties), the fresh anchovies, the calamari, the house salad, the pomodoro (of course), the ricotta pasta, and the lamb. Forget any Italian you have ever had, because these are all better. The calamari is actual calamari without any breading in sight, served on a bed of white beans. The fresh anchovies are mingled with cucumber and onion slices, spices, and all served in an olive oil dressing. Spectacular. And the bread is definitely required to soak up the dressings. Pastas are perfectly al dente with wonderfully flavorful sauces and additions. One of SF’s best restaurants that manages to remain inventive and fresh while still serving a pomodoro that defines what pomodoro should be.
