DeCarlo’s provided fantastic appetizers for a gathering of about 20 in our apartment at the Westchester, followed by a great dining experience in the side room of the restaurant. Susie provided tremendous help in arranging the appetizers and planning the menu for our event. She even prepared souvenir menus! Our servers were very attentive but not obtrusive. We ended up closing down the restaurant but didn’t feel the least bit pushed. Highly recommended.

I had the veal piccata, which was delicious. Veal was perfectly cooked and vegetables were very fresh. Their featured salad with avocado and melon was great too. Another diner had the soft shell crab an thought it was fabulous.

DeCarlos is one of my favorite places to dine. The food is consistently great. The service is exceptional, they know what we like and are proactive. I highly recommend DeCarlos.

We loved DeCarlo’s on Yuma St NW & have been missing it since it closed. So we were thrilled to discover it had reopened in a new location. The food was wonderful (same chef?) & some of the wait staff even looked familiar. But — the ambiance of the new dining room is zero or less than zero. No longer a welcoming “neighborhood gem.” And if you try to enjoy dinner on the (actually) lovely outdoor terrace, you will be eaten alive by the mosquitoes. We were. So — nice to have it back as an option, but it’s not really DeCarlo’s anymore. Sigh.

The setting is elegant, the service is great and the food is very good. As an added plus the restaurant is quiet enough for easy conversation. Would recommend to anyone

We have been regulars at DeCarlo’s between overseas assignments since the late 80’s. When they had to move, we were very disappointed. We loved the best kept secret in Washington where CIA and FBI heads could meet with little notice. Of course, some of our best journalists then were also regulars. Locals would briefly look up from their delicious meal to note who just walked in. We finally visited DeCarlo’s in their new venue. It’s different and quite elegant. What hasn’t changed is a dedicated staff and the traditional menu. Ask for the linguine à la vongole even though it’s not not on the menu. The chef will prepare it. Worthy of note is that the noise level at this restaurant is the lowest that we have experienced recently.
