Billed as a modern Southern steakhouse, Deacon’s New South will feature a prominent dry-aging room and an exposed kitchen setting with a wood fire grill, as well as two bars, an eclectic lounge and a private area that can be reserved for large parties. Though it was built in the 1950s, the building’s art-deco influences — such as brass and copper details and bold architectural patterns — will be incorporated into the sleek, industrial design of Deacon’s.

I want to preface this review with saying this place is usually fantastic. I’ve had some of the best steaks I’ve ever had at Deacon’s, but this occasion was unfortunate - I want to think it was because it was a cold Monday night, however I had taken business partners out for dinner expecting them to have a great experience/be impressed with the food, and it was mediocre at best.. Our appetizers were good - charcuterie plate was a fair value and they brought out more bread for us when we asked. The crab cake was very tasty and had a perfect texture. Dinner was not up to par.. my ribeye, while cooked properly to medium rare - was cold. Like it was made first and sat to wait for the other 3 dishes to be made. My GF’s strip steak, tough and undercooked.. we took most of it home, as she didn’t make it known at the table that it wasn’t up to standard but didn’t want to make anything of it to distract from the conversation with our company. We finished the cook for her at home to have for lunch the following day. My business partner’s pesto pasta - drowning in legitimately the most garlic I’ve ever seen in my life.. my family runs and Italian restaurant and I’m very familiar with pasta dishes, especially a simple vegetable primavera. There was more pieces of raw garlic than there were pasta stands and vegetables.. I could understand some roasted, soft garlic that packs a punch of flavor in a dish like this - but it was raw and excessive.. my business partner stacked up the garlic on a separate plate and it quickly became a mound. Service is always great. Top notch. However, I felt when we showed displeasure with my business partners pasta, it was met with a joke and no offer for remediation. He admitted it was an excessive amount of garlic but typical for the dish. His gf’s bolognese was the only dish that came out at a high enough quality to appreciate. I trusted Deacon’s for an important occasion, and I was let down. $400 meals should be consistent.

First time visiting this restaurant. Food was just ok. Unfortunately, they were out of everything we wanted. Out of our first wine option, mussels, scallops, and another dish one of our friends requested. I know it was a cool night, but they had the heater turned way to high. We couldn’t wait to get through with dinner and leave.

We ordered the 2019 Hall by Kathryn Hall Cab from the wine list. They brought us a 2020 Hall Cab. These two wines aren’t even in the same class. A complete bait and switch. The mussel appetizer was barely warm, tough, rubbery and overloaded with fennel. The Bison Delmonico had an excessive amount of fat on it. The Prime Rib was cold and the fat had not been rendered out. It was inedible. The baked potato was cold. The butter wouldn’t even melt when we put it on it. I’m not sure how this place is still in business.

Hi Todd, I'm the manager that took your Prime Rib and Baked Potato off the bill. I am so sorry that you were not happy with the rest of the meal, I would have absolutely tried to make things right while you were here if I had known. A Delmonico is generally one of the most marbled cuts of meat, but if it was not what you expected I would have been happy to replace it with a leaner steak. As for the wine, the vintages are subject to change and our Sommelier would have been more than happy to review the vintage or bottle selection with you to avoid confusion around the multiple labels a winery may produce. Sever was horrible. He could not remember orders and was way too late delivering drinks. He di not listen to what was being ordered or how steaks were supposed to be prepared. Ordered a martini on the rocks and I got one up with rocks in it. Food was cold when delivered and was not cooked properly and then brought back to the table heated up instead of bringing back a new steak. Then finally brought a new steak back and it was so late we took it home. Totally unforgivable on how we were treated. The one steak should have been comped at least. Could not recommend this restaurant to anyone based on the service.

My daughter and I had calamari, filet, and the red snapper with a shareable side of Brussels sprouts. Everything was good but not exceptional except for the calamari and Brussels sprouts which were delicious! As for the ambience, dimming the lights would be my suggestion. I love a candle lit feeling when I’m having dinner. Overall we had a lovely dinner.

The inside was beautiful. The signature drinks were amazing! Then the food was cooked perfectly and came in a timely manner. The Carmel cheesecake was amazing to finish!

Beautiful space with great service. I liked the menu but my Butter Pecan Trout was disappointing. The cornbread and salad were terrific as was the filet and hand cut fries. Wonderful location with tricky parking.
