Dawn's food was exceptionally delicious, and the menu was varied to include Vegan entrees!

This was my first time at Dawn Eatery. I have been to 14 Parish which is its sister restaurant. I had made a reservation and was immediately seated. The server was Jasmine and she was very attentive. The atmosphere was modern, open and airy! My party and I enjoyed all of our selections. We ordered the biscuit basket - very good homemade biscuits and the syrup has a surprise for you if you like spicy! I also had the sweet and savory hash and jalepno cheddar grits. All was very delicious! Would definitely recommend if you are in the Hyde Park area.

We went because of the food reviews we'd seen, and they were always positive. The food was actually BETTER than we'd thought. Nice portions, filling, creative menu. My ONLY complaint was the service was a little slow. But that's not to discredit our server - he was good but it was during a busy time. I did see that it was all hands on deck, which i did appreciate. We will be back!

Overall great experience. I got the pot roast & jalapeño grits. Delicious & a healthy serving. Jasmine was our server. She had the best personality. Only thing I didn't like is we were seated at a little 1 off table right outside of the kitchen & had a view of the dishwasher guy while we ate. Other than that, would definitely recommend. Reservation strongly advised because it gets crowded quickly.

It was nice enough for me to return. Ambience.....BEAUTIFUL! Food wasn't outstanding but tasty indeed.

The food was awesome!! Hot and very tasty. The hostess was great as well as the two floor captain. Our issue was with our waitress April. She took at least 15 minutes to to get to our table to just tell us that she would be right back. 10 minutes later she took our order. However we had ask several times for straws for our water. Food came out and the wait staff captain finally brought our drinks. She just wasn’t attentive as we feel she should have been. Your staff can make or break your establishment. Thank goodness the food is great. April needs some additional training.

I had a wonderful dining experience at Dawn Chicago with my five guests. The shrimp and grits were incredibly flavorful, and the grits themselves were perfectly creamy. I also tried a strawberry lemonade, which was refreshing, though a bit on the pricey side for such a small serving. To start, we ordered the salmon deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes, both of which were absolutely delicious. The interior of the restaurant has a nice, inviting ambiance with just the right amount of natural sunlight in the morning. However, one downside is that the place can get crowded very quickly during breakfast hours. We were reminded at least seven times, from arrival to when we ordered, about the 90-minute table limit. While I understand the need for time management, it started to feel a bit overwhelming and made us feel rushed. Our server was fantastic—friendly, helpful, and attentive—but the hostesses at the front desk were a little disorganized. They asked us to wait in the lobby for our table, only to forget about us and seat another group that arrived after us. That could definitely be improved. Overall, despite the few hiccups, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Dawn Chicago and will certainly be back for another visit.
