From the owner of David's (Portland, ME), 388 is a comfortable and casual neighborhood nook where diners can enjoy a range of bold flavors. Both restaurants share the signature of Chef/Owner David Turin, and David's 388 is built "by the Chef, for the Chef." From the caprese and Caesar salads to the beef filet and seafood papardelle, our meal was wonderful. This is a great neighborhood restaurant!

Menu choices were kind of limited for people who do not eat seafood. Our choices were delicious though! Excellent pot stickers - sweet sauce and greens complimented them- arancini were excellent, and Caesar was good with a mild dressing (only one anchovy though…) entrees were awesome- filet mignon was perfect, haddock was thick and moist, tuna was cooked perfectly. Loved the rice on the tuna special. No desserts tempted us. Server (Victoria) was attentive and friendly, encouraging us to not rush. That was appreciated! Always a great meal, although the menu is small.

Loved it! Our go to restaurant in South Portland. We had the pasta and it was delish. I loved the dumpling app and my husband enjoyed the potato croquettes.

We’re local foodies who have dined around the world. David’s 388 was a wonderful surprise. We frequently find that restaurants in the Portland area tend to be overrated with overpriced food that tries to be a bit exotic. Understandably they have to watch their profit margin, which often means they pack too many people into smallish spaces so the noise level is intolerable. David’s 388 has none of those negatives: it has a wonderful staff, excellent food and we and our dinner companions could actually carry on a conversation. Well done!

Wonderful as always. Service was fantastic and the food was incredible. The Chocolate Pecan Bourbon tarlett was remarkable. We live David's 388 and hope you don't change.

While we’ve occasionally had dinner at David’s in Portland, my husband and I just had our first dinner at David’s 388 in South Portland. We loved our meals; taste, amount and combination of foods was in our view perfect. Dishes were creative, but not over-the-top decorative. Had a beautifully tasting appetizer and a seafood entree that was one of the evening’s specials. We enjoyed every bite. Even though it was already full and busy by 5:30pm on a Thursday after Labor Day (Do book a table!), servers were friendly and attentive throughout.

David's 388 is now may favorite restaurant. The food is wonderful...that fried Brussel sprouts with blue cheese, almonds and fantastic drizzle of sauce was the best!! Food is cooked and presented to perfection. Service is marvelous. We had a new server who was really attentive and knowledgeable and who asked questions of the other staff members when she couldn't answer a question concerning a small detail. This will be my go-to place for great dining. Thanks, David's 388 in SP!

We celebrated our 53rd wedding anniversary at David’s because we always enjoy it. Our server was a lovely woman who delivered everything promptly and exactly how it was requested. The food was not outstanding but overall quite delicious. We will definitely be back soon.

My first time, as my wife had been there before. The bread starts things, it is more than awesome. Both our entre's were fantastic. We sat the counter and had a chance to dialog with the chef, great guys - interesting to watch them work. Highly recommend going to David's 388!
