From Long Shot Hospitality, the team behind Washington, D.C.’s beloved restaurant, The Salt Line, Dauphine’s creates a transportive experience inspired by the playful city of New Orleans. Led by Chef Douglas Alexander in tandem with Chef/Partner Kyle Bailey, Dauphine’s utilizes Mid-Atlantic ingredients to prepare classic New Orleans fare while also creating original dishes inspired by the iconic city. Located within the Midtown Center, at the site of the former The Washington Post building, guests can visit Dauphine’s for brunch, happy hour, or dinner in an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere.

This place is pretty good but not outstanding. The bread basket was phenomenal. I had the stuffed chicken which was pretty good, but not mind blowing, and the portion was very small. The service was just okay. No one was rude, but this restaurant is approaching the price where I start to expect some elements of fine dining, and they are just mid.

Best jazz brunch in DC without question. The Big Easy in the DMV.

To start, the food was quite good. While the wine selection was somewhat limited, there were still options to suit different tastes. The waitstaff performed decently; however, I was taken aback by the unexpected 4% surcharge on the bill. I couldn't find any explanation for this surcharge on the menu or the company website. I find it highly misleading to impose a surcharge that isn't clearly communicated upfront. As a business owner, this is particularly frustrating. Although 4% may seem minimal—around $6.80 on a $170 check—it adds up significantly when you consider the volume of customers the restaurant serves in an evening. My initial instinct was to deduct that amount from the tip, but then I wondered—who would that really hurt? The staff? Should I even care? Perhaps if enough patrons did this, the staff might voice their concerns, prompting management to reconsider the policy. The real question is: why put your customers in such a situation? The food was enjoyable enough to warrant a return visit, but the experience left a sour taste that may deter me from coming back next time.

Such a great experience! Went to an early Sunday dinner to celebrate a birthday and they were so amazing! The food was delicious, the drinks were fantastic and our waitress was so nice!

A great sunday brunch as usual with a special guest chef as well. Always consistent and delicious. Its also a fun restaurant which DC needs more of!

Oysters Dauphine, Boucherie, and bread service - all good appys…NY Strip, pork chop, Duck Jambalaya amazing entrees… Baked Alaskan and Beignets perfect desserts! All Highly recommended! Natalie is a fantastic general manger… Brian solid Director of Operations…both take special care of their guests… they help the wait staff
