Dauphine’s, a restaurant inspired by the playful spirit and iconic cuisine of New Orleans is led by Chef Kristen Essig, who called the city home for over two decades. The Dauphine’s menu pays homage to the diverse cultural influences and rich culinary traditions of New Orleans while utilizing Mid-Atlantic ingredients. The beverage program is developed in partnership with New Orleans native Neal Bodenheimer – owner of Cure, the 2018 James Beard Foundation Award winner for Outstanding Bar Program – and offers a menu of both classics and innovative riffs. The expansive indoor dining features a large sunken dining room anchored by a custom raw bar and wood charcuterie case, a wrought-iron pavilion linking the bar and dining, and an intimate mezzanine with private dining. Bookend by two outdoor spaces, Dauphine's features a 30 seat outdoor bar with a custom New Orleans-inspired tiled fountain and a separate covered dining patio for 80 guests.

    We had the oysters and chicken liver pate. Both very good. Tomato salad was over dressed. Tomatoes not great. Blue catfish and greens delish and the Baked Alaska the absolute best!

    The spritz cocktail was delightful. I had oysters app, and crab cake entree. Both fab!

    It’s difficult for me to begin to express the disappointment that was dining at Dauphine’s. I selected this restaurant because my husband and I love New Orleans cuisine, and this is not that. The red beans and rice should be called white rice and red beans. There was no sauce in the beans, no flavoring, anything remotely close to what someone who has enjoyed red beans and rice would expect. The gibo ya-ya is a gumbo no-no, as it resembled a soup warmed from a can. We ordered steak, they had no steak sauce. Would not return if it were the only option in Al of DC.

    My friend and I went for dinner on a Saturday evening after 6pm. Although it was not crowded in the dining area, the first floor bar was full. We were quickly seated and staff quickly provided water and menus. The food and wine selection were satisfying. We ordered bread first which came before the food. It was a nice selection. But, the meals (chicken and fish) were very tasty and filling. Overall, it was an exceptional experience. The only problem was parking. Most of the garages were closed. But, we used Park app and found a spot around the corner.

    The food was fine--if I had paid $50 - $75 per person, I would not be writing this review. We ordered oysters to start, porkchops, crawfish-stuffed chicken, and the veggie pasta. A bottle of wine. A few beers... four people. The oysters were weirdly tasteless and watery. The pork chops were dry. The chicken was super rich--too much. The pasta was fine. A bit runny, but fine. Again, four people... the bill was $500, before tip. Wild! The value just was not there for us. The food is fine, it's just not worth what they are charging. Sorry!

    Lovely dinner outside with heaters. Each dish was a delight. Especially enjoyed the chocolate Chickory dessert with coconut maple ice cream to complement the lighter fish meal. Service warm and on point.
