Darling’s is a fresh pasta eatery in East London. Overlooking Olympic Park, the eatery is a hidden gem in Fish Island where the industrial and creative spaces converge. Roman Road, Bow, Hackney Wick and Victoria Park are just a stroll away from your weekly treat of freshly made pasta and wine from independent producers.

Egle Loit, a trained pasta chef, has previously popped up mostly around East and North London, creating a buzz with her pre-restaurant residency at Vestry House Museum in 2023.

Founder of Darling’s cares dearly about the craft that fresh pasta making requires. “One can turn humble ingredients into abundance with skill,” shares the restaurateur.

Darling’s is designed to be an open space to be shared between the guests and the team, therefore there are no barriers between the service area and the dining area. You’ll find yourself connecting by enjoying your meal at the shared table. Those, who like to hide away, can still do it at separate tables.

You’ll learn how to make fresh pasta using just flour and water with exciting sauces at home without needing any specific equipment. More than anything, you’ll spend 3 hours on a relaxed afternoon or evening creating & eating pasta by hand and making some new friends along the way . I have reasons to believe that fresh pasta making could become your new favourite form of self-care. It’s just so meditative. The pasta you have made, will be served as a dinner with a couple of different sauces ( vegan/vegetarian options available) at a set table. This will be so wholesome! We will also be tasting through some fantastic wines from all over Italy with with our wine expert on hand to guide us throughout.

It was a great evening, but I do have to say we had a bitter taste in our mouth about the overall experience. We booked for three and extended it to 4 a few hours before the booked time. As I called I remember the lady insisting it’s no a problem at all, which I assumed was because we received a table for four anyways (which they did). In the very end I didn’t feel well and I had to go home, and only three people arrived at the booking. They noted the restaurant wasn’t full either with several tables empty. Would you think they’d charge us the £20 no show fee for the last member? We didn’t think so either. I too - as many of you reading - have went to bookings where a no show fee is payable, but never have I ever had that charged when one person didn’t show up, but the rest of the party did, (and it has happened before), especially not when clearly they not only didn’t loose business (empty tables) because of us, but we were due to sit on the exact same table anyways with four chairs! Not to mention the fact that I called a few hours before to amend the booking, and being assured it’s totally fine. I was told the dinner was nice, portions are small so maybe order additional ones to share, but I would be hesitant to go back and try for myself just for the principle. What kind of customer service is this? Where is the humanity in all of this? No show fee is there to protect the business for random bookings, not to skim off £20pp just in case something comes up in peoples’ lives. Was it worth the £20? I wouldn’t think so.

A new pasta restaurant and pasta-making class venue. We went to the restaurant on a busy and warm Friday evening for dinner. Food was excellent, pasta perfectly cooked and tasty, and portions okay for the price point. The customer experience hasn’t matched up. Maybe our experience has been an outlier compared to other reviewers. - Our first attempt to book (some months before this visit) was cancelled at short notice with minimal explanation; the restaurant said they would call back the next week to rebook but didn’t. - The waitress seemed confused about what to do with us when we arrived - we made a late booking on OpenTable. We then sat at the counter for a good few minutes before being given the menu. - Another pair of guests moved to a table outside so we were offered the chance to move to the counter area near the window where they were sitting. We took this up. - We waited an hour for the mains to arrive (it was busy - I think the limiting factor was the kitchen’s capacity to produce food). - The waitress initially approached us with mains that were ordered by the guests previously sitting in our seats. - We had to ask for the bean salad when the mains arrived (I think it might have been forgotten about). - The bill had two extra glasses of wine on it which were promptly removed - probably from the guests that we switched tables with. Any of these issues in isolation could be shrugged off - as teething issues, the restaurant being really busy, or just misfortune on the night - but the accumulation of them points to some issues with training and approach to service in my opinion. But, overall, we would probably go back at some point for the great pasta. In terms of atmosphere the vibe is woody, beige, neat, communal dining.

This place was absolutely fantastic the first time we went but we felt on our second visit they were too busy and the food was poorly prepared and not very tasty. Pasta was very watery and it felt like they had run out of some ingredients.

Such an incredibly beautiful space, the most perfect lunch setting. The friendliest team and the food was unbelievable, we just can’t wait to come back.

We had a great meal at Darling's before heading over to ABBA Voyage. Even though we were early for our sitting we were able to enjoy drinks in their lovely outdoor area which was great service. Because there were 4 of us we were able to order the whole menu and taste everything, which is my favourite way to eat! We were particularly blown away by the starters, especially the burrata with truffle honey. We also really enjoyed the variety of fresh pastas with seasonal ingredients. The quality of produce across the board was really high. We had a bit of a wait between our starters and our mains so a little more communication around that would have been helpful as we had a hard out, but strongly recommend a visit to Darling's and hope to be back soon!

Had an amazing meal here! All of the food was fantastic and the staff was beyond nice. Recommend to anyone looking a cute Italian spot in London :)

We visited Darlings after looking for somewhere to eat before going to the ABBA Arena. Despite being a little off the beaten track, it was a lovely meal - all freshly cooked - with great service. We would highly recmmend it!

Darlings is always super lovely.. the clean minimal Scandinavian vibe countered with the rustic touches of an Italian farmhouse detail and the food.. the food is beautiful, delicate and always delicious.. we are a bit far away from Darlings but it’s certainly in the top of the regular places to keep on going back. Can’t wait for the next visit and what’s on the menu!
