We are an award-winning restaurant with a beautiful waterfront location in Derby. We offer you classic British and European dishes with a modern twist, within a 200-year old former mill building: Darley Abbey Mills.

We also have two outdoor terraces so if you prefer, you can enjoy al-fresco drinks overlooking the River Derwent prior to your dining experience. We’re open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Darleys creates incredible flavours and stunningly-presented dishes that will delight you, all paired with the perfect wine or cocktail to make your experience complete.

Very good but not excellent during this visit. We had the Sparkling Breakfast. Food (taste, quality, presentation, portion size) excellent. Maitre D excellent (friendly, attentive). Waiting on staff lesser so. I requested scrambled eggs instead of a fried egg only to be told upon food arrival that “chef had said no”. These exact words, the way it was said and its timing were all not the service level you would reasonably expect. And then within 10 seconds the Maitre D brought a separate plate of scrambled eggs. So well done to Darleys for accommodating my request (to be fair to Darleys I realised it wasn’t a menu option after requesting it) and it was clearly a mix up but why did the member of staff make such a comment. We would also say service took a little too long between courses. The above slightly lowered our dining experience but didn’t ruin it. Hence we didn’t raise the matter with the Maitre D but as Open table requested a review, we have left transparent and honest feedback.

We had received a voucher for our birthdays and opted for the 5 course tasting menu. Overall the food was very good and we tried some different things. Didn’t get a window table which was offered when booking-but the table we had was ok. Staff were very good and were kept busy but did everything with a smile. Will definitely go again and try a different time of day/menu.

Birthday lunch - staff were very attentive, food delightful, good value and no pressure to hurry. We’ll be back!

The food was lovely but the length of time between finishing our starter and being served our main course was 30 minutes - not good.

Fantastic date night for a seven course taster menu. All dishes were fantastic and well thought out. Big shout out to the crab dish and the steak too. Smellier was amazing throughout and on hand for recommendations as we didn’t go for the wine pairing too. However two cocktails later and two glasses of wine each and the bill was just as much. All in a great evening with lovely people. Thank you, highly recommended.

Each of 3 courses had sensible proportions, were well presented and delicious. In particular, the serving staff were well educated on the meals and showed care for dairy intolerance suggesting alternatives.

Relaxed fine dining at its best! The whole experience was outstanding. We opted for the 7 course tasting menu, which did not disappoint. The food was exquisite presentation and taste. The service matched this, with a friendly, attentive and knowledgable front of house team. One guest opted for the wine flight which was an experience in itself, with each wine carefully paired and explained at each course. Highly recommend!

Visited for a retirement meal and ate from the bistro menu. Too much pfaffing around with various members of waiting on staff approaching the table to do different things. Nothing seemed to flow and was disappointed that I had to send my wine glass back as it was dirty (not what I expect from a Michelin star restaurant). The food was very nice but we waited too long in between courses even though it was not particularly busy. Will try again as hopefully waiting on service will be less disjointed next time.

The space is beautiful! Outstanding view, we were able to have drinks outside in the sun before lunch. The food was amazing as well as the service!! Julia was the best waitress we could ever ask for. Whenever I’m back to Derby I will be back to Darleys for sure! Thank you for the amazing experience!
