Da Mario Ristorante was established in 2012 and it is a place for the real lovers of the Italian kitchen. It is located in the heart of Budapest, in the neighborhood of the excessively beautiful Liberty Square. We are combining the traditional Italian recipes with the expertise of our head chefs. On the menu you can find those typical dishes as the popular handmade pastas and the original, Italian pizzas which we make in our wood heated oven. If you can not decide whether to choose an Italian trattoria or a steakhouse as a place for your lunch or dinner, do not look for it anymore. In Da Mario Ristorante we only use source protected products, what we are importing straight from Italy every week in the spirit of freshness. During the summertime, 100 person can also be seated at our enormous terrace.

Don’t book here. They overbook their terrace. And the staff is rude and blunt.

Our restaurant was open but there was no terrace. We had to go to the neighbours because this restaurant belongs to the same owner. The food was very good (8 prawns, mussels, spaghetti with seafood and a pizza). The service was poor and they were not interested in us. On the bill was extra calculated 15% service and 900 Forint for a unit(???). Nevertheless they did not understand why we refused to give an extra tip. This holiday we went to Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest and in a lot of touristic areas they calculated 15% service.

Hatalmas csalódás. Az étel mini adag és ehetetlen. Konkrétan a carbonara makaroni tésztából készült, életemben nem ettem ilyen száraz, íztelen tésztát. Az aperolról ne is beszéljünk, ott a víz és a jég dominált. Valószínű más is így gondolja, mert szombat este csak pár asztal ment, míg a szemben lévő Türkizbe helyet sem lehet kapni. Nagyon sajnálom, mert régen nagyon jó hely volt.

Nice food served by a drunk waiter forgetting twice to bring us the bill, after asking him :) Live music was great.

At this point we have tried about 100 restaurants in Budapest, this was the worst one by far, we will never go back and urge you to please stay away. One good server, unfortunately he was covering for everyone else including one clearly under the influence who poured out the rest of our wine bottle like water and spilled it. The tiger prawn was RAW! Unacceptable at this caliber of a restaurant, than when they “fixed” it the fish and accompaniments were all cold. Had to get up and go inside to pay, we were standing in line 4 of us because they would not bring a bill to anyone. Then the intoxicated waiter who was leaning on the counter charged my card in USD rather than HUF without asking (bad exchange rate plus 4.5% commission). The owner needs to identify his two good employees and fire the rest to fix this disaster of an operation. With literally hundreds of great restaurants in the V. District, they can’t stay in business long. Seems the writing is on the wall, they are attempting to run a Hungarian restaurant and an Italian restaurant together - two kitchens using only one seating area.

Great food in a great atmosphere, couldn’t be better. Waiters attentive but didn’t pester us. Dinner on the outside terrace on a lovely warm Budapest night was exceptional. Certainty be back next visit
