Chef Giuseppe Monaco, Born in Capri, Italy where his passion for cooking took root starting from Mamma Rosa & Papa Giovanni… Giuseppe was trained in Culinary School in Capri, Italy and has over 30 years experience—Let Giuseppe take you to his home with the finest Italian meal you have ever had!

Cucina Caprese is a restaurant that uses traditional Italian culinary techniques including il Forno a Legna –old style wood-fired oven– cooking. We use seasonal, local and organic ingredients as well as meats, cheeses and extra virgin olive oil(EVOO) imported from Italy.

Our dough is prepared the authentic way of old Napoli–made only with special ‘OO Flour’, yeast, and water (no sugar oil, or vinegar). Our pizza is then prepared the traditional Neapolitan way, il Forno a Legna, in a wood-fired pizza oven on the side made to order!

Food was delicious. Our waiter was very helpful and courteous in selecting wines and food. He explained how the pizza’s were made and the ingredients used. When he saw we were still talking after all was eaten and the dishes were cleared, he brought us more wine so we could continue our conversation. A delicious and delightful evening.

Delighted to find this authentic Italian restaurant on our stop in San Diego. Pizza was amongst the best we have ever had and the service was great too! Highly recommend!

I have been to many Italian restaurants through the years. This one was slightly different in a good way. The food is not the typical pasta dishes covered with sauces/creams. The flavor comes from how it is baked in the oven and prepared simply with oil, garlic, etc. I would definitely go back.

We waited 15 minutes to get a menu, they never brought us water and after 20 minutes of sitting at the table with out a server we left.

The chef/owner always remembers us and greets us enthusiastically. This place is a gem. The food is not your average Americanized Italian food; you think you’re in Florence when you eat here.

I didn’t expect such bad service at a restaurant that had good reviews on yelp. We waited 15 minutes for menus, 10 more minutes for drinks and even longer for our order to be taken. The food was cold and came at different times to the table. Our bill was wrong twice which added to more waiting . When it was finally correct, more waiting time for waiter to come back for card payment.
