We waited for an hour for our starters. When the main courses eventually came they were very greasy, I had the fish finger sandwich which was swimming with grease and almost inedible. The children’s chicken was spicy with a strange dip which I can’t see any child liking. My other children had Mac & cheese from the children’s menu which was so small it was eaten in about three spoonfuls. First and last visit, we definitely won’t be returning.

High noise level and restaurant was dirty. We had to kick crusts out from under our chair before sitting down as well as crumbs off the seat. Menu was okay and food was okay but a garnish would have been nice on mains

This was my second visit in two weeks. The steak sandwiches are incredible- I’m sure the other food is too, but I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to tear myself away from that sandwich! Came here for lunch after a 10 mile walk and it was so good that I planned my next walking trip around coming here for lunch 👌

My ratings for this occasion are all poor because it actually never materialised, so any judgement would be irrelevant. I had a reservation booked for 8.45pm on Tuesday 2nd April, but at 6pm the same day, the restaurant phoned me saying they had cancelled it because of 'stock issues'. One can only assume from this that they had absolutely no food at all, because they didn't mention any particular items they'd run out of and asked no questions about what we might like from the menu that they did have in stock for us to choose from. Or, one might assume, probably more correctly, that the restaurant was paricularly quiet that evening and they preferred to shut early and go home. We were not offered any alternative booking. On account of all this, I don't really inderstand why I'm being asked to review a visit that the restaurant itself cancelled!

£31 for a steak and chips, no side of tomato or anything as promised. The steak came sliced up as if it was leftover and meant for the steak sandwich. Crumble was just slices of apple with a tiny bit of custard which didn’t even cover the bowl. Came a few months prior and it was much better with a much better menu

Went for dinner last night and it wasn't busy at all. I had booked as I wasn't sure. They where in no rush to get us through our courses and leave. Which was really nice. I will be back.

We were put on a table that was really wobbly. Moved upstairs where other tables were left uncleared. The food took a long time to come and the chicken schnitzel which was mostly breadcrumbs. Others had fish and chips again more batter than fish. The roast was good though. Clearly there is an under staffed issue as they were running around like headless chickens. Both toilets were disgusting the tap in the mens was not attached to the sink and the whole place could do with a lick of paint. Also, the parking out the front was dodgy - great big dip that my father-in-law got his car stuck in. To be honest I've had a better experience in a Harvester for less money.

We had the Sunday roast which was outstanding. The service was quick and friendly, and the pub is very welcoming right next to the canal. We will be back!

Had a lovely roast dinner on Sunday. The portions were large and the Yorkshire pudding was perfect. I would also recommend the salted caramel chocolate brownie. The staff were really friendly and helpful, checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Looking forward to visiting again.

I came with a group of 12 people, we had to wait for our food much longer than normal and there was not a single person in the group who was happy with their food unfortunately. As a group of hikers, we eat in pubs every weekend and I must say that food wise, this is one of the worst pubs we have eaten in. On the other hand, the choice of beer was great, staff was very nice and also it’s a very nice looking pub inside so I would definitely return but only for a drink. ***I booked the pub for the group and myself I had a burger. The patty was horrible, it didn’t look and taste like mince meat but like luncheon meat so I had to return it and it’s wasn’t edible.
