Try this on for size. They import their ice from Japan. . . let that settle in. Don’t think I ever spent so much time looking at an ice cube. That was in between comprehending how you include “pork fat washed Iwai Blue” in a whiskey cocktail, not that I know what that means anyway. Between the hidden entrance, the 1920s Taisho-era decor, with red drapes just inside the entrance, the red carpet, down to the wooden lion heads placed above the bar, to the Hibiki Lounge in the back (a must see), get ready for a memorable experience. The exit is through a side door, different to the entrance. As the door closes behind you, you’re back to reality, only there’s no marking that the place was ever there. You question, “Did that just happen?” . . . Nah

Stopped by Bar Kamon on a quiet Sunday night. Inside you’ll find a beautiful interior and a well-curated menu with tasty cocktails and bites. The bartender that was helping us was informative and quick. The reasoning for the 3 stars was our experience with the hostesses. We came in at 6:30 pm with a party of 3 and were directed to sit at the bar after asking for table. We were told no because they were expecting a party of 6 and it was protocol for us to sit at the bar. Makes sense reserving the larger table for the larger group; but there was an open table with 4 seats and a party of 4 got sat an hour after we got there. We just found it odd because there was a total of 9 other people in the bar aside from us and many open seats.

To clarify, Bar Kamon has limited tables that accommodate parties of four or more, and reservations are managed through OpenTable in 90-minute slots. If bar seating was offered, it means the tables were already booked, even if they appeared open at the time. We must honor reservations to avoid conflicts when the reserved parties arrive. Very nice little speakeasy. The experience included a hands on tutorial on how to blend the perfect Japanese Highball. Definitely coming back!

Have you ever seen the anime Bartender Glass of God? That’s exactly how it was! Sam and Amadeus behind the counter was outstanding. The conversation were intriguing, a little deep, but also seen and heard. Stories were told, futures were hoped for, and the present was lived.

Amadeus and Sam crafted perfect cocktails and provided an elevated level of service and engagement while sitting at the bar. A fun time was being had be all in their presence!

There were 7 of us and the private room was a perfect size. Loved that we had our own area. We could chat and and hear each other. My favorite foods were the chicken sando and the tuna with caviar. Also the Trash Panda was a refreshing tropical cocktail! Just know that 1.5-2 hours goes by really fast and before you know it you have to vacate! 😁

Upon checking in for our reservation the hostess said it would be about 5min for a table to be ready and that she was going to call us when it was ready. She asked us to wait in the bakery area with nothing but tables and chairs because it was closed. We saw random groups and people walking into the bar and not waiting. 5mins had past and nothing, now it became a 12min wait and my husband had to go back to the hostess stand to check the status of our table. The hostess then told my husband the table was ready. Since our reservation was at 10pm, they had already closed the kitchen; kitchen closes at 10pm. They will provide you japanese peanut mix for a small charge ($5). Overall the drinks were good, service from waiter was goog and the ambience was really nice. Just disappointed with our reservation check in and the wait for our table.

Beautiful experience. Right decor & vibe, friendly & helpful staff, tasty food, excellent collection of whisky. Great as a date spot, solo spot or for a medium sized group! Will definitely be back. Don't forget snagging some baked goods on your way in :)

An absolutely amazing, creative and unique cocktail experience. The mixologists are true artisans. The ambiance was perfect. Highly recommend coming here if you are looking for a unique speakeasy experience with a Japanese twist.
