Upping hospitality and embracing diversity is what we strive for at Counter & Bodega. We are a full service sit down restaurant and bar located in the heart of Chelsea, New York, featuring authentic Puerto Rican and Multi-Latin comfort food. We provide a cozy and welcoming setting offering excellent service, signature libations inspired by beverages found in any NYC local bodega, along with both traditional and unique food menu items. During warm weather enjoy outside dining in our cozy garden backyard. Special gatherings for parties of 8 or more guests can reserve our speakeasy game room after enjoying dinner upstairs on the main floor. Counter & Bodega is a private family owned company.

The restaurant had a cute decor and the service was good. The food was decent. I ordered pernil and it was very salty. The chicharrón (fried pork skin) that came along with it was not great. I expected a bit more quality with this specific dish.

The food was amazing. I have not had food like this since my grandmother would cook for us. They were extremely nice and attentive and they sang happy birthday to me and served me a pretty decorated tres leches cake. I love this place and will definitely be back. Try it. You will not be disappointed. Amazing food. I love it.

Decided to visit the spot to celebrate. My aunt’s birthday made a last-minute reservation. What time to be seated was maybe less than a minute hostess was amazing. Our server was named Joanna. She was amazing. Food is delicious. Tasted very authentic. Something that my mom will be whipping up in the kitchen, the staff sang happy birthday to my aunt with a delicious tres leches cake. Cocktail drinks are delicious and fuerte! Totally recommend, looking forward to my next visit.

overall experience was great. Waiter was attentive & service was great. However my family ordered different plates to try & the pepper steak taste more like liver then steak. It wasn’t a pleasant taste. the appetizer platter wasn’t worth $46 in my opinion. The empanadas tasted a bit re heated and didn’t taste or look fresh. the platter had assorted empanadas & waiter couldn’t tell which flavors they were. I must say the boneless chicken chunks were very flavorful and juicy! the black beans were amazing!

The staff is so hospitable and accomditaing!! It's really hard to find authentic Spanish food in Manhattan, so it's great that this Gem of a restaurant is on 7th Avenue between 23rd and 22nd street. I alway enjoy the music that they play and the food consistently hits the spot!

It was good. We only had appetizers and one person had dessert. The appetizers were made to order and I like that. I plan on going again for a full dinner with drinks and want to enjoy all the ambiance.

Our experience at this restaurant was unlike no other in NYC. The smell when entering was of cleaning products which made me and my party apprehensive about even eating in here. So we were seated and waiting to see if the smell would pass since there were other people eating. The food was not served together like I asked so one persons food got cold waiting for the other food to arrive at the table. One of the plates had a piece of something in it that was not food. When it was addressed to the server we were told at least it wasn't hair. At this point we stopped and address the fact that what if the person eating wasn't looking at her food and actually swallowed it. Overall not a place I would visit or recommend.

This establishment is disgusting. If I could give it a -0 stars, that's what I would give it. Dirty doesn't begin to describe it. Never again, I'm very disappointed considering it's been on my list...

Our first time here and we had a great experience. The food was absolutely authentic and delicious, like eating at your grandmothers house! Food presentation was beautiful! We had piononos, mofongo, pernil, arroz con gandules, chicharon de Pollo. Perfection! Our waitress Johanna was very sweet and very attentive. She was bartender and waitress and strived for us to enjoy every part of our meal. We met Sophia, who is owner with her husband and she was personable and attentive to us as well. She remembered one of our party member who had been there quite awhile back which was pretty impressive. Her establishment is one I would absolutely recommend.
