Acclaimed Sicilian Chef Accursio Lota serves up authentic cuisine in a cozy 60's-style Italian trattoria. Voted San Diego's Best Chef five years in a row, and Barilla’s World Pasta Champion, at Cori Trattoria Chef Lota serves up beautifully bold dishes like Agnolotti with Spring Peas and Beef Bone Marrow, and an unbelievably rich Vegan Parmigiana di Melanzane. The menu melds the flavors of Sicily and Italy with the best of fresh, locally-sourced Southern California ingredients, and is matched by a curated wine list and cocktail program that include indigenous, bio-dynamic varietals from all Italy.

The current Spring menu features dishes like Agnolotti with Spring Peas, fava bean, and beef bone marrow, and Cacio e Pepe with sustainably-sourced Petrovich caviar.

We had a wonderful time celebrating my wife's birthday at Cori during restaurant week. Food was very interesting, regional, fresh and delicious. Service was spectacular, we were made to feel right at home. Wine pairings were offered with the three courses and each complimented the food very well. A special shout out to the first wine, made from Pecorino grapes, it's the first time I've had a wine from this varietal and I hope it's not my last. The restaurant's signature dishes, including the quite excellent Capasante should not be skipped.

Food was extremely average. It airs on the more expensive side for what you’re getting. Focaccia bread was the worst I’ve had at an Italian restaurant - no crispy crust/very dry and more of a roll than classic focaccia. Overall the food was fine just very bland. I would not go back.

Every bite was better than the one before it! The food was as delicious as it was artistic, and the service was as warm as it was efficient! I definitely recommend this restaurant, but I do think that it is overpriced. For example, an order of bruschetta comprises two small pieces the size of a half-slice of bagged sandwich bread for over $20! Yes, it was delicious and topped with thinly sliced meat and a scrumptious dollop of whatever it was—heavenly taste—but we ordered it to share among four of us and it was absurdly priced. The arancini balls were the best I have ever savored—a better value for their price, too. And of our mains, I especially loved the scallops with risotto—craveable! I will be back (when I can justify spending two weeks’ worth of grocery expenses again).

Cori was a great little bustling spot we Yelp-found while on our cross-country-meet-weekend-getaway. We entered through the packed patio into a packed restaurant. It was energetic and clear this was going to be a good dining experience. Service was exceptional and Bridget was attentive and knowledgeable about the wine and food. We started with a bottle of terre del Timorasso. It’s an Italian white wine and we have little experience with Italian wines so Bridget’s input was very helpful. It was perfect for what we ordered to eat. We started with Arincini and Focaccia and both were delicious. We are not huge eaters so decided to split the scallops with Risotto. Flavors were fantastic. I have a preference for risotto to be softer and this one had more texture. Again the flavor was wonderful. For feedback, we made our reservation for the bar. It’s was a bit of a challenge because we had to be served from behind. I did enjoy getting to watch food being made. The restaurant is packed in which creates great energy but could be a challenge for someone looking for a quieter dining experience. Overall I recommend trying Cori!

Everything was great. However during the first third of our evening the music was too loud, as we were below the speaker, and we could not hear one another. They did turn it down halfway through and it was more pleasant than. We each tried different dishes and enjoyed all of them, no complaints as to food. It’s a great restaurant but all the tables are very close to one another, if you like a little separation for a more romantic time this isn’t it. We enjoyed ourselves, a party of three, and will return again.

First time at Cori experiencing the Wine Tasting/Dinner event and it was well organized and they were well prepared. All the tables were set, wine glasses lined up for the tasting and the servers were all amazing and attentive. The representative from Antinori Winery from Tuscany was good but it was difficult to hear him as he was speaking in the direction of the main dining area and we were slightly off to the side. Would have been nice if he had a microphone that projected his voice better. The mortadello appetizer and gnocchi ai Funghi entree were delicious and paired well with the two different wines served. The lamb entree did not fair as well. It was bland and and the belly which was filed with various herbs did not settle well with me so more than half was left uneaten. The wine pairing was done well but overall I was not amazed by the wine. Don't get me wrong it was good but I was expecting so much more. It would have been nice if the sommelier took the time to talk about the flavors of the wine and what to expect from each, and then shared how the wine complimented the food it was served with. How the flavors change, similar to what all wineries do in Napa Valley. Instead we got the history of the winery, the history of the black rooster, the types of grapes used for Chianti. Overall it was good.

Cori is always a stellar experience with the food and service. Their special occasion wine paring dinners are not to be missed. Go whenever you can!

Cori Pasta was absolutely outstanding. We loved the arancini and carpaccio starters and the famous seafood carbonara. But the top of our list was the Agnello lamb with pine needle crust and potato timbale. Unique and terrific. Closed with possibly the best tiramisu we have ever had and a delightful, tangy lemon mousse. The service was fantastic - attentive and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back on our next trip to San Diego.

Always an outstanding experience at Cori. This is our absolute favorite neighborhood restaurant and one of the top in the city. The menu offers so many incredible dishes that it’s difficult to choose. The wine selection is filled with unique Italian wines you cannot find anywhere else. The staff are professional and friendly every time.
