One appetizer was never served. The manager gave us a free dessert to compensate. Food was delicious. Server was excellent. Kitchen was slow.

Love Coopers Hawk but they need to improve their service as it relates to reservations and the length of wait, lack of waiting areas and lack of table beeper. Last night we never received our drinks timely and didn’t receive the second order at all. Then had to wait 30 minutes to be refunded for drink order. These type of issues are frustrating and there is too much competition in Virginia Beach for this type of service to not have a negative impact to repeat customers.

Overall it was a very disappointing dinner. One of our main dishes had undercooked chicken and overcooked pasta. The calamari was overcooked and rubbery. The steak medallions and grouper fish had little to no seasoning. We have had better visits in the past but the quality has been going down the past couple of visits.

The good - wines were great! Bad - My wife received to wrong meal. She had ordered a gluten free broiled grouper and received fried grouper. We told the waitress and they took it back and prepared the correct dish. They gave her a salad while she waited but my dinner was rapidly getting cold so I had to start eating. The GF grouper must have been previously frozen as it came dried and with no flavor. Besides this, the wine I ordered was wrong. Service was not good, as we had a reservation and still waited 20 minutes for a table and a while before the waitress noticed us.

I know you've been to restaurants where you expect a lot and while it wasn't bad, it just really wasn't all that good. That is my exact feelings about Cooper's Hawk Winery and Restaurant by the Lynnhaven Mall. I had the parmesan chicken, and quite frankly, it was a disappointment from start to finish. I don't have a delicate palette it really wasn't that good. I expect a lot more from a restaurant where I'm gonna drop a $100 on the dinner period. It wasn't a total washout because the bread they served there before the meal was incredible.

Very busy, definitely recommend making reservations, even for lunch. Overall, great place for lunch or dinner. Wine very good. The Cranberry Sangria was the best I have ever had! Food great, and very large portions. Highly recommend splitting the wedge salad. The mushroom flat bread pizza was awesome, full of flavor & cheese. Now for the bad. First of all, we ordered a tasting to determine difference between the house Chardonnay & the more expensive limited edition Chardonnay. The limited edition was awesome so when we ordered a glass, we could tell that they switched & served cheaper version. Not cool! Then the server was very very short with us and we were not given good service like other customers that came in after us. They did not have the two most popular appetizers that we asked for and we had to request for the complimentary pretzel bread that the other tables were given immediately. Our server was quick with other tables after us , but slow with us. Parking lot was packed so it was hard to find a spot and I noticed a lot of cars without handicapped tags parking in handicap spots. Over all , our experience as a repeat customer was good with the exception of a few misups. We may return in future when not as a busy holiday weekend, because the food is worth it.

I booked for a farewell party for my cousin moving across country. To start, I would not recommend Cooper's Hawk for a large gathering. If you have over 12 people they will attempt to charge you $70.99 per person for a "private dining event." Additionally, they do not honor split party seating (we had late RSVPs and I wasn't denying someone their chance to say goodbye). I did not complain, I've worked restaurant industry and understand. On top of that, for our party of 12 they would not seat us until at least 8 people were in attendance. Even after I mentioned that this was a surprise farewell party and the point was for us to be sat for the guest of honor, no one even attempted to assist us. It just seems like so many rules for a restaurant that is a mere step above Olive Garden. For this location, they seemed quite understaffed. As a former server/bartender myself, I was very gracious to our server who seemed to have too many tables and not enough help indicated by her beads of sweat and long pauses in service. She was super kind and attempted to be as attentive as possible when she did stop by the table. I didn't complain when everyone else received their meals instead of me, even with the long time it took for her to come back when everyone was well into eating their meals and I was left plateless. I also didn't complain when I never received my second glass of wine. Also didn't complain when it took her over 20 minutes to just bring out the Nothing Bundt Cakes I bought for the table. Lastly, as I mentioned this was a farewell party for my family member moving across country. I overtipped (in cash) to also cover his tip because cross-country moves are expensive. I HAVE NEVER in all my years of serving/bartending, heard of or have personally opened a guest's server book and asked them to tip more... I am the first to defend waitstaff and to preach proper tipping, but this was shocking (1) for her to ask, and (2) for her to ask the guest of honor.
