Located on High Holborn, close to the British Museum, the restaurant is elegantly designed and filled with original Indian art and antique furniture including century old items made for Maharajas which take diners on a journey through Indian culture and history.

The menu reflects regional accents with a contemporary viewpoint. It is food that observes the established traditions of Indian cooking but breaks the rules a little by Executive Chef Sohan Bhandari. Our menu goes beyond a 1970’s “Curry”, beyond street food and into a world of real Indian flavours. Our signature dishes include our traditional lunch Tiffin, Khaati Rolls , Colonel Saab’s smoked lamb shank and figs poached in Assam tea cognac.

The bar is a great meeting place and afterwork destination serving signature house cocktails created to compliment the menu.

                                                                                                    WE requested seating in main restaurant which to take in the atmosphere and the space is pleasant and festooned with chandeliers and distinctive decor; the room is very noisy when crowded. Note that there is a second tier/mezzanine floor with a balcony overlooking main floor and bar but this area has a very low ceiling and is bound to be very noisy indeed. Menu is inspired and all our starters and mains were nicely presented and flavourful; the curry's were excellent. Unfortunately, my lamb biryani was simply too dry and rather bland. Service was nice - all staff were delightfully polite and helpful when engaged. However, we booked at 8:15 pm on 13 December and the restaurant was already completely full. Service was quite slow to start....we were seated and ordered cocktails quickly but didn't receive our drinks for over 20 minutes! Starters were also slow to arrive. Once cleared our mains arrived within an acceptable interval however our waiters became rather inattentive and we had to chase for further drinks orders and also had to chase another waiter to come and clear our table once were were all finished. I would say that overall the food was good, but London has many other hi-calibre Indian venues to offer.

                                                                                                    The place is done up really well - interesting. But felt overpriced for the food. The prawn moilee was excellent, chicken was good and the fish tikka was bad. Dessert was good but there no misti doi taste in the cheesecake as far as I could tell!

The service is impeccable, and the staff are really friendly. I’ve visited Colonel Saab three times now, and I can only recommend it highly!
