Restaurateurs Vittorio Assaf and Fabio Granato opened Brasserie Cognac de Monsieur Ballon in April 2008. The duo brought their love for French culture and cuisine to New York City and gave the Big Apple an authentic slice of such, with a brasserie style menu combining French classics with modern creations.

My mother and I come to NY twice a year an Cognac is always the first and final place we dine during our stay. The service is excellent and the food never disappoints. It is always delicious and the presentation is perfect. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough.

We sat at the bar and Dino provided us with exceptional service. The french onion soup and escargot were perfect! Only in town for marathon, but next time i am in NYC in manhattan will be coming back!

It was a quiet night in the restaurant but the food was very good and the wine list was excellent. There was some confusion regarding the wine we ordered but the restaurant addressed it. The service was attentive and prompt. We would go back.

We had a delicious brunch at Cognac Brasserie 48. I had a well executed Eggs Benedict while my husband had the Expresso French Toast which he devoured. Good service,

Greasy food. Confused waitstaff, poor service. Had to ask for ice 3 times, French onion soup definitely did nit use Gruyère.

Generally, the dining experience was both excellent and so-so. The escargots were bland and lacked flavor, particularly the garlic. However, I enjoyed the Halibut main course and the risotto with champagne foam. The dessert profiteroles were okay, with delicious vanilla ice cream but uncomfortable puff pastry and roasted almonds. The chocolate sauce was excellent, but I put that chocolate sauce in the Espresso Martini, instead of the dessert dish. That was divine.

A very decent French brasserie in midtown. Great service and everything we ordered was well prepared. Definitely share the gougeres!
