Welcome to Cocina de Barrio, the newest modern-urban Mexican restaurant located in Encinitas, CA! We are proud to feature the culinary richness of Oaxaca as well as other Mexican regions. Stop by and enjoy our bar stocked with plenty of tequila and mezcal selections, beer, and wines sourced from Valle Guadalupe.

Don't forget to join us during our weekend brunch (where we add a Mexican kick) and our happy hour every Monday-Friday from 3-5pm! Stay Chido!

We ate outside so noise wasn’t an issue but inside the space was buzzing. Wow what a great addition to Encinitas. Food was amazing with such beautiful presentation. If you’re a tequila drinker the bar will not disappoint. The menu is so thoughtfully put together with special consideration with plant based options. The service was incredibly attentive. We can’t wait to go back.

We started with the guacamole made at our table. It was delicious and I highly recommend it. Also, the salsa is the best I’ve ever had and ordered some to go. I had the Birria tacos and loved it and the presentation. It was my friend’s birthday and they gave her a beautiful desert that we were all too full to eat. Overall great place for authentic Mexican food.

Delightful dining experience. Excellent service from beginning to end. Food presentation like a tapestry of art, so delicious. Tantalized every tastebud. We are in a heatwave & the fans were on, but it was still too warm. One guest had to walk & get air, while 2 others tried to fan themselves at the table.

The food is tremendous! I love the variety and the specialty dishes and beverages! I did find it a little surprising that coffee was so hard to come by. In a fine restaurant such as this one, it would not only seem that cafe de olla would be available and replenished but that it would be part of that cultural experience. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time celebrating our son's 30th birthday!

It's commonly ordered the most during brunch hours, and it's not so common during dinner. Therefore, a fresh pot had been brewed at the time of order to ensure freshness. Wonderful experience at dinner last night! Cocktails and food were fantastic. The service was top-notch. There were multiple people assisting with prompt and friendly customer service. Highly recommend.

Friendly staff with a pleasurable environment. Plates could be filled / decorated much better, birria meat was dry & had no classic dipping sauce. Tostada tortilla was not edible due to dryness ( our table had 3 of them ). Guacamole & beans though were top notch. Sadly don’t think this place will last long.
