Welcome to Cocina de Barrio, the newest modern-urban Mexican restaurant located in Encinitas, CA! We are proud to feature the culinary richness of Oaxaca as well as other Mexican regions. Stop by and enjoy our bar stocked with plenty of tequila and mezcal selections, beer, and wines sourced from Valle Guadalupe.

Don't forget to join us during our weekend brunch (where we add a Mexican kick) and our happy hour every Monday-Friday from 3-5pm! Stay Chido!

Outstanding, creative, fresh, delicious food! Great service. This has become my favorite upscale Mexican restaurant in Encinitas. The margaritas are delicious. The food is expertly seasoned with delicious homemade sauces. My favorite dishes are the sea bass ceviche, table-side fresh made guacamole, & succulent lamb dish with thick, homemade corn cakes.

This was our second time dining here and unfortunately our experience was the same as the first. The food is very good. My husband and I had 2 different moles and both were excellent but again the service was not good.It took a good 10 minutes for server to come take drink order at which time we placed food orders as well.Drinks took almost 15 minutes to come and then 3 of 4 entrees came right after but other 2 another 5-10 minutes. Embarrassing with guests. Our server was very nice and tried but restaurant seemed very understaffed for a Saturday night.

We began with a generous and wonderful ceviche, then absolutely delicious plant-based choices: the Flor de Calabaza and the Tetelas. Really tasty sauces and satisfying dishes. With just these three, we were too stuffed for dessert! Although there's plenty for meat lovers, I would especially recommend this to any vegan, since gourmet Mexican vegan isn't the easiest to come by.

Beautiful atmosphere and extraordinary cocktails and food. Amazing vegan options and they are willing to veganize dishes not on the vegan menu. Excellent service.

Our first visit celebrating our anniversary with family. We all agree that the food was delicious and the service was excellent. We started with some antojitos to share and some tasty and beautifully garnished cocktails. We all ordered different entrees and eagerly shared bites enabling everyone to sample each dish. Excellent meal. We will be back. Soon.

We ate outside so noise wasn’t an issue but inside the space was buzzing. Wow what a great addition to Encinitas. Food was amazing with such beautiful presentation. If you’re a tequila drinker the bar will not disappoint. The menu is so thoughtfully put together with special consideration with plant based options. The service was incredibly attentive. We can’t wait to go back.

We started with the guacamole made at our table. It was delicious and I highly recommend it. Also, the salsa is the best I’ve ever had and ordered some to go. I had the Birria tacos and loved it and the presentation. It was my friend’s birthday and they gave her a beautiful desert that we were all too full to eat. Overall great place for authentic Mexican food.

Delightful dining experience. Excellent service from beginning to end. Food presentation like a tapestry of art, so delicious. Tantalized every tastebud. We are in a heatwave & the fans were on, but it was still too warm. One guest had to walk & get air, while 2 others tried to fan themselves at the table.
