Where we invite you to journey into a place of both intimacy and companionship
Our concept is drawn from our name. The word “cloak” implies secrecy, inspiring our concept of a social sphere humming beneath the levels of ordinary life. “Petal” alludes to the Japanese tradition of “hanami,” when family and friends gather under blooming cherry blossoms to savor food, drinks and fellowship.
Enter our space and travel underground to décor reminiscent of an abandoned Tokyo subway, a stratum of society all its own, an artist’s dream. Cross the threshold into a mystically transformed Japanese social dining lounge which appears to be an outdoor seating area, similar to a waiting platform. Sit beneath a trellis of draping vines and teardrop lights in the intimate space we’ve thoughtfully created, and feast on authentic Japanese sushi, appetizers, small plates and drinks with family and friends.

I don’t want to provide a star rating for Cloak and Petal because I hope my first experience was just a fluke encounter. But this platform requires a rating. We arrived at 6:20 for the 6:30 reservation. The place wasn’t too crowded and were seated immediately. The menu was easy to read and my interest was piqued on several creative appetizers and sushi rolls. The atmosphere is delightful with a color cherry blossom tree in the middle of the restaurant. While waiting my partner and I tried to Shazam three songs but with limited cell phone network couldn’t access Shazam. My back was to the room so several times I turned to grab a servers attention but with no success. After about 10 minutes and finishing the glass of water I checked out the bathroom. Upon returning the hostess was refilling my glass and we reported we were ready… we had been ready which seemed like a long time. “I will let your server know.” We waited for another 4 minutes but didn’t have anymore patience. Upon exciting we paused at the hostess station but no one was there. The server may have been on a break. It’s too bad they don’t provide coverage or empower there hostess to at least take drink orders. Maybe there will be a next time.

My husband and I ordered the garlic edamame and chicken gyoza for appetizers. The garlic edamame had too much garlic, would have been nice if there were no tiny chunks of garlic because it was too overpowering. The chicken gyoza was amazing. We ordered 3 rolls, they were pretty good but our favorite was the crunchy roll. I would go back

The service was bad. The staff had an attitude when they seated me and it took forever for someone to come take my order. Also the table was wobbly so my water kept spilling.

This was my first time here, and I enjoyed the food, drink, and ambiance. The server and wait staff were very attentive. I definitely will be coming back.

Love this sushi spot it’s absolutely amazing. Tastes fresh and great combination of flavors. I love the spin of different types of things that they try to do with their dishes. Tonight our favorites were the spicy garlic noods, kamikaze roll, and the ribs! 🙌🏻

Food was great, music and vibes made the experience. Kamikaze roll was phenomenal. Got the gyoza with chicken and asked for it to be spicy, was tremendous.
