I made a reservation to be seated in the patio, they tucked us away into the side of the patio on picnic tables. Which was swarming with ants, our waitress took about 15 minutes to even greet us. Our appetizer arrived before our drinks, and when our main course arrived my wife had asked for Tabasco which never arrived.

Opening weekend. Quite a few misses for them today, but since it was grand opening I will spare the too many details in hopes that they will take this week to improve. GOOD: The chicken biscuits and the pancakes on the Southern Breakfast was pretty good. NOT SO GOOD: Order was not fulfilled as requested. Kitchen/bar were very backed up and it took a long while to get our drinks and food. The French Toast I wld skip. DJ was a nice concept but it was so loud it felt more like a day party. Given the crowd of patrons, slower tempo like R&B would have been a perfect vibe over the explicit hip/hop. Last, they will need to add a couple of benches to the front while waiting to be seated at your table. The manager did apologize for our experience and sent over a mimosa carafe to the table. This was appreciated. Overall, I think they have potential and they are located in a great up and coming part of town. They just need a little more time to work out the kinks.

The waitress Morgan was superb!! There were some seating challenges even with a reservation. Food was slow to come out and they had several things on the menu they were out of for grand opening weekend better planning was needed. We live in Houston so sitting outside, next to the bayou can be challenging. They would need to invest in bug zappers fast before it gets too hot. Flies, bees and wasp, mosquitoes were a problem. Would we go back....we went, we saw, that's enough. The East River area is very nice and on the rise to be a premier area in Houston.

I chose patio seating through open table only to arrive and find 3 categories of outdoor seating, with our reservation securing a very low, tiny cocktail/end table with low slung patio chairs which were not appropriate for brunch dining at 10:45 AM. We chose to sit at the bar instead, which was fine until the DJ set up indoors at 12:30. We still did not have food at this point, and now we couldn’t hear each other talk. Yes - I said we were seated at 10:45 AM at the bar and we still did not have food at 12:30 PM. After politely asking the host at the door if we could be moved to one of the 5 2-top tables that remained open on the “patio”, our request was granted. I cashed out at the bar, and our new server promptly brought our seafood omelette and shrimp & grits to our table 15 minutes later. I really wish she had asked if we wanted something else, because we were both ready to order additional drinks, but she disappeared after bringing the food to our table. She continued waiting on the table next to us, but we could not get her attention. I felt bad about leaving when we did, and I am hoping that the bar tender considered tipping our other server from the 25% tip that I left when I cashed out from the bar. This was opening weekend, but still - no Orange juice for brunch, or a willingness to offer the 3 Citrus juice as an alternative to OJ was disappointing, as was the very slow service and the absence of more than 50% of the items that appeared on the printed menus. It is a cool location, so I will go back in May/June to see if things improve once they have worked out the kinks. For now, I suggest lowered expectations and extreme patience for anyone who chooses to dine here.

We visited City Cellars hoping for cocktails and a bite, but unfortunately left without either. We arrived slightly early for our reservation and were warmly welcomed by the hostess and one of the owners. He was friendly and upfront, letting us know the kitchen and bar were running behind, and that our server was wrapping up other tables. We appreciated the honesty and were happy to wait. After about 35 minutes with no service, we noticed a large party seated after us had already received drinks. Other nearby tables were also left unattended. At about the 45-minute mark, I had to stop a passing waitress. She was kind and apologetic and let us know that no one realized we didn’t have a server. She then took over but warned that the kitchen and bar were still very backed up. At that point, we’d been seated for over an hour with no service, so we decided to leave. We understand it was a busy Saturday night, but waiting an hour without being greeted by any waitstaff is disappointing. That said, the staff we did interact with were courteous and honest, and we’re open to giving City Cellars another try just at a less hectic time.

Unfortunately there is not much to say we arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and were not seated until 15 minutes passed our time. Due to the kitchen backed up as the hostess informed us. Once we were seated it took a while to get our order in and even more to receive our drinks and more time to get our food which a majority of it either was sent back due to no flavor or cold etc… all in all we might be back in 6 months once they get all there kinks settle. I could go on and on but we totally understand it was an opening weekend and only because of that we will be willing to return and give it a try again.

Disappointed. We were so excited as we followed them here from their Med Center location, which we loved. Half the menu was unavailable. Half of the dishes we received were cold but we waited 40-50 minutes for them so sending them back wasn’t even worth it. We waited 30 mins for each drink. The people around us were so loud we could not even hear our own conversations or the live music. When we wanted to add chairs or move we were told that the entire place was booked but throughout the entire 2.5 hours we were there, about more than half of the tables around us remained empty. Which was disappointing considering we turned people away as we watched other tables freely add guests. I understand that it’s grand opening weekend but surely, one would expect a little more. It will for sure take a whole lot for us to return seeing as the service, food and drinks were all 2/10. Views were great. You’re better off having you’re own picnic on the beautiful property around.

Lucid was an amazing server yesterday. My friends and I joined during brunch and he did his best to provide top tier service. The food was delicious and the happy hour is well priced. I will absolutely be back to enjoy this place again.
