CIEL, meaning ‘sky’ in French, is inspired by vibrant restaurants of the French Riviera and brings an elevated and festive dining experience to Houstonians.

September 1 was my first and last time dining at CIEL. At first glimpse it’s a very aesthetically pleasing experience. My poor rating is as follows: my friend and I were seated in a larger booth style table along the wall. A lot of space for two people. We continued to enjoy our drinks and appetizer. A man approached our table who we DID NOT know or invite. Because he was visibly under the influence of something and the overwhelming shock of him just seating himself at our table we didn’t say anything to him initially. All of this chaos was happening while the server was taking our order, thankfully she was emotionally intelligent enough to ask if he should be removed. I gave my order to her while listening to him to assess the situation as we didn’t want to cause a scene. He was removed thankfully. The most disheartening part of this whole is experience was whomever the guy with the adorned locks is told us that we should have immediately told him to leave. Because we allowed him to stay for the time he stayed the guy could have taken it as we wanted him there?!? Still in shock and beyond confused by this feedback. We won’t be back as it’s ridiculous to me that I have to go to eat, be my own security at a restaurant, manage to have a great experience, pay the bill and carry whatever additional weight on my shoulders from society. No one asked us if we were alright. If we looked different I wouldn’t be writing this review. You guys need to do better.

The ambiance was very nice and energetic. The waitstaff was attentive and helpful. The food was mediocre. In my opinion the food was very bland. I had to ask for some hot sauce but they didn’t have any so they gave e sriracha. The appetizer was good. The bread reminded me of a pretzel.

20% service fee is kinda terrible. I’ll prolly never go again until it’s removed.

I was hoping for more!!!! I was looking for an experience. Se7en is way better!!! I was prepared for the food to not be top tier, if the dining experience had been amazing. We were there from 630-930 on a Saturday night saw NO entertainment only a bunch of people ordering overpriced bottles of champagne with a sparkler celebration! Lame! The food was "OK". 5 star prices with 3 star quality. Now, my favorite part.. a 3% fee for paying with a credit card and a 20% service charge for 4 people ($107). We would have tipped 20% at least, but not being given a choice was definitely an interesting strategy. Our service was good at first but slowly declined as people were ordering the overpriced bottles. I'll never go back. It didn't live up to the Insta hype, and wasn't worth it for the money. Really disappointed I chose there for my birthday. Could have definitely spent $700 at way better places.

My only only disappointment was we couldn’t get a booth and they didn’t acknowledge my husband 67 birthday after I booked it was his birthday

The place was beautiful, front door guy and desk girl were awesome. Food tasted amazing! The server made the night less enjoyable, he was to aggressive, over talking my female date , we had to ask for things multiple times, I guess his friend was dining at the table next to us so he was cussing while engaging with them, he was training someone who we had to get to actually help us out , had to ask multiple times for drinks to be bring to the table, when the bill came it was wrong. Great place looks wise but for the cost you would expect top notch service out of the wait staff, messed up the mood of my date!

Fantastic food with a unique restaurant week menu selection. Was less than half full on a Wednesday evening (7pm) which was a little surprising. Bathrooms could us a little more regular cleanliness attention. Valet was expensive and no change was offered. Wish Houston would get rid of over-use of painful valet. Overall an ok experience that would have benefitted from management paying more attention to detail given the pricing point for this venue.
