I had a meat loaf dish and it was dry and tasteless. My wife had a salad and thought it was OK. The waiter gave the impression that he did not want to be waiting tables. When my wife asked for lower salt options he suggested everything had salt. My experience is that waiters normally will suggest the lower salt options on the menu. Clearly, he did not care. He set the desert menu down without comment. The desert was the best part of the meal. We will not go back.

The appetizer’s were very good but things went downhill when three members of our party ordered the crab cake. They were overcooked and way too spicey for two of us. The waitress should have warned us especially after we inquired about the dish. The accompaniments were pickled and roasted cauliflower which was an odd combination. The restaurant was cold, dark and loud. Service was uneven and somewhat unprofessional. Will not return

Food and atmosphere were top notch. My GF has celiac, and I added a note of the need for gluten free options to the reservation, since the online info said that is possible, but the server, although very courteous, was very confused and took a while to figure it out. Would expect more from a restaurant of this caliber.

The Waitress was very nice in the beginning and once we received our food and there was a flip in her demeanor. We were finishing up dinner and she automatically brought us the check without even asking us if we would like dessert then after the check arrived without asking took our unfinished food nor did she ask if we wanted it to go or packed up…. She threw it away without checking with us (full plates of food). With an attitude she started grabbing stuff off our table also… this was a business dinner and quite embarrassing….There was 2 parties in the same area as us and none of them were treated that way. We all found it odd to be singled out like that.

Church and Union never ceases to impress. Every single time. The service is excellent. The wait-staff (Eleni) cared in just the right ways. She was insightful, had great recommendations and was easy to converse with. She was able to detect needs and engage, and able to fade into the background when conversations were “in a moment.” Dave, stopped by and made us feel at home and welcomed. He was so approachable and made sure everything was perfect. The food was impeccably presented, served, and outstanding in taste. Timing was excellent, we couldn’t ask for a better experience. One of my favorite places in Nashville and can’t wait to come back and will definitely keep recommending it to others.

I was worried when we arrived for a 6:45 pm reservation and there were few other dinners but it filled up quickly. Service was great! Food was delicious (had the flank steak with yummy mashed potatoes), were able to comfortably talk with a client throughout dinner due to a very decent noise level. It’s worth the walk off the beaten path a tad to enjoy this establishment!!

The food was amazing, but the service left much to be desired. You expect a thousand dollar dinner to be top notch, but not this time. We had once person in our party move over 1 seat and that made it impossible for them to split the check up by couples. I don't think it was the waiters fault. I believe it was management that made that decision. We are definitely going back to Nashville again next month, but we won't be going to Church and Union.

Overall a great experience. From the hostess to the bartenders, everyone displayed enthusiasm and great service. It was my first time in Nashville. Visited for a conference. Downtown was quite lively, it was Friday night after all. There were plenty of restaurants and bar/lounge to choose from but, most spots I checked were all fully booked. I stopped by the Twelve Thirty club for a quick gin and tonic while waiting for my dinner reservation at Church & Union. I arrived about 35 minutes early for my 1845H reservation. The hostess was gracious in offering to either wait for a table or be seated at the bar since that’s on a first come first serve basis - I opted for the latter as I was starting to feel hungry. The bartender almost immediately acknowledged me, handed me the menu, and asked if I’d wanted to start with a drink- which I obliged and got a nice glass prosecco. For starters, I had the Fried Green Tomatoes topped with buttermilk remoulade, corn, walnuts, dill, and crispy country ham- deliciously tangy, savory, with a crunchy exterior. For the main course, Wagyu Flank Steak with Crushed Yukon Potatoes- the steak was tasty & tender, large portion, and beautifully pink at the center. I also added the Brussels Sprouts with Bacon Lardon, Sherry Caramelized Onions, and a generous sprinkling of aged cheddar - also phenomenal! I was stuffed but still ordered dessert - buttercake - to go! Would definitely recommend to my peers and family. Thanks for a great first restaurant experience in Nashville!
