The food overall was delicious and unique however, I’ve never downgraded for ambience before but have to here. It is inexplicably dark inside this restaurant. The only other time I’ve dined in a place this dark was at The Blind Cafe in Boulder, which is purposefully dark. A staff member even admitted to us that he has spilled water when refilling glasses multiple times this case, he had not see the top. If I was the chef, I would be annoyed because the dishes are beautifully plated, but can only see them if you use the flashlight on your phone. I’ve never been in a restaurant this dark before, and it affected that experience. We had the tuna Crudo appetizer, and the panzanella type salad was the star of the show. I couldn’t tell if tuna really belonged in it. Our drinks were the apple margaritas special, which was absolutely amazing, and their take on an old-fashioned, which is served with duck fat. My husband said it was one of the best old-fashioneds he’s ever had. I would’ve had another margarita, but it was so dark it was already making me quite sleepy to inside the restaurant! The salmon and trout entrees and banana pudding dessert were great! Will go back sometime when it is light outside so we see our food and each other and therefore enjoy the experience more.
