Inspired by the warmth and vibrancy of Jamaica’s culture and people, Chubby's Jamaican Kitchen is a take on traditional Jamaican cooking balanced with relevant culinary twists. Co-founded as a passion project by Gusto 54 founder Janet Zuccarini and Angela Lawrence, Gusto 54’s Chief Culture Officer, Chubby’s is a celebration of their long friendship, and their love and respect for the island’s food and all the amazing Jamaican cooks they know.

Located in a circa-1890 row house re-envisioned by Partisans Architects and interior designer Wendy Haworth, Chubby’s boasts two floors of seating, two bars, and two outdoor patios. It melds old and new, inside and out to create a transporting dining experience complete with delicious Caribbean cooking, eclectic design and soulful hospitality. Chubby's is also a Michelin Guide CA - rated restaurant.

My mom's celebration for her 70+ years of life was ABSOLUTELY time well spent at Chubby's. My entire family enjoyed all their food selections and left every plate clean. Our weight staff Janelle was professional and on point - no ones meal was messed up. Keep up the great work Chubby team. Awesome job all around!!!!

Amazing food as always. I’m Jamaican and this literally is my favourite restaurant. I bring all my friends and family here. Tiffany was amazing. She was very kind considerate and supporting. She gave her suggestions and answered any questions we had. Can’t wait to come back!

Great Michelin restaurant very well priced. Had the curry chicken and curry goat hearty flavors. Asked for hot sauce as I love it 🔥 that sauce was scotch bonnet hot and great. We also had plantain delicious more sweet style not savory but good. The seating was tight we were at the bar upstairs. It was recommended to us. Very glad we tried it out, next time will reserve well in advance

Came in for a friend’s birthday reservation for 4. Tried calling in - it defaults to an AI answering service that is not too user friendly. Coming into the restaurant on a weeknight, they crammed us into a small booth. The server was overwhelmed (I believe they were understaffed). I had to get up from my seat to get a hold of my server after sitting for 15 minutes trying to flag down a busser, manager or our server to order a drink. Our appetizers came without any plates or utensils. Busser came by to drop our mains off without clearing our table and we had no space to eat. Up until 20 minutes after our entrees were dropped off, no quality check in. To top it all off, staff did not acknowledge there was a guest’s birthday. A cheque was dropped off to our table before we requested seeming to kick us out despite many tables in the restaurant were served. After paying the cheque and waiting for change, there was a dead spider inside the rolled up napkin. A

Unfortunately a lot of the dishes we ordered came cold and the staff wasn’t very attentive.

Great ambience and solid menu! Only downside is the reservation is for 1.5hrs and they do enforce it, so for a dinner it’s quite rushed. Would recommend providing guests at least 2hr slots so they can comfortably enjoy their experience.
