Chop was created for people who love sharing, connecting and everything steak. We are proud to offer a menu that shares our commitment to sustainable beef sourcing, serving high-quality cuts of 100% Canadian beef. It isn’t just the meat that’s special – it’s also how we cook it. Our Montague broiler cooks at up to 1800 °F, giving a beautiful crust and flavour to every steak! We slow roast our prime rib in a humidity-controlled oven, keeping it mouth-watering and tender. And we put this level of care into each of our hand-crafted drinks, and from-scratch dishes, including plant-based and seafood options, with something for everyone to enjoy. All of this quality comes with friendly hospitality in warm and energetic rooms. Open for breakfast, happy hour, dinner and late-night!

    Loved this spot! the ambience is perfect for a quiet evening with delicious food and drinks. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and are also very friendly and easy to talk to. We will be back best food we’ve had from a restaurant so far. Worth the price!

    We had a wonderful time. The staff was great. The food was delicious. It was our anniversary and they comped our desserts, as well as giving us a card signed by the staff, and a coupon for a free appetizer for our next visit. Ashley was wonderful. She was friendly and helpful, let us dine at our own pace, and was very attentive. Thank you very much.

    Our first time here & everything was perfect but I’d like to give a special shout out to our server Reese. She is probably the best wait staff I’ve ever had & made everything even better. The food was amazing & zero complaints & we will be back!

    We celebrated our anniversary at Chop at the Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Halifax. Since it was our anniversary they provided us with complimentary Prosecco, which I appreciate more than the often comped dessert. We made sure we were there during happy hour to take advantage of specially priced drinks and appetizers. We had the Chili Garlic Shrimp and Wild Mushroom & Goat Cheese Dip along with their Sparkling Sangria to start. The appetizers were both tasty and the drink, although not very sangria-like, was nice & refreshing. We both ordered the Prime Rib. The meat was melt in your mouth delicious. The sides were ok, I didn’t really like the wild rice pilaf, too dry but the horseradish and chimichurri were nice accompaniments. Our bill arrived with a card signed by the staff and a coupon for a free appetizer on our next visit. Nice touch. Our server was friendly & attentive. Really like the atmosphere here. Much prefer it over the Keg & a similar price point.

    This was our 2nd visit in 1 year, we had some cocktails with a wonderful starter, the cocktails were sublime. Our main meal was one of our top 3 favorites of the last 10 years and seriously we have been to restaurants in Canada and the USA... This also includes the service we received it was impeccable, recommended.

    The service was top notch! Friendly and attentive! Staff is so friendly makes you feel welcome! I had ribeye and my wife had filet mignon! Two of the best steaks we’ve had anywhere! Fabulous and can’t wait to go back! Highly recommended
