China Garden has been serving Chinese, Cantonese and Dim Sum cuisine for the past 30 years. You will receive a warm welcome at our restaurant, conveniently situated on the corner of Preston Street with a great view of the sea.
We have a fully licensed bar and a capacity of 150, offering the ideal setting for an intimate meal with family or friends, but also the ability to cater for private parties. Our wide variety of delicious Dim Sum Dishes are served daily 12:00 - 16:00 while the A La Carte Menu runs right through the day from 12:00.

    The food is ok, above average dim sum, moderate variety, ok ambience. Warning. Convoluted system of filling out DIY numbered menu forms for preordering dim sum. But this system only extends to the dim sum menu, not the a la carte menu. We discovered this the hard way. Staff were literally furious we confused this in our ordering and two dishes were delivered to us by mistake. The staff made a loud unnecessary fuss about this confusion and patronizingly explained how their system works, at least 6 times on repeat by different staff. Not sure if we should have read some kind of sign somewhere? But nothing was explained to us about the deep mysteries of how their system works. We’ve never seen a system like this in any of our dining experiences in Europe, UK, or across Pan Asia. Have been dying for good dim sum since leaving Australia / Asia. Kind of soured the experience as the staff were avoiding us, plonking down dishes and were generally being openly rude. We felt terrible and spent a lot of money too, much more than dim sum usually costs, so it would have been much more pleasant if it felt less begrudging and more professional. When we got up to leave the staff ignored us. I’m literally not making that up! Very hostile and odd and nothing we have ever experienced. Like we were all total idiots. Sadly this was not what myself and family expected and we will not be in any hurry to return.

    Pleasant staff, comfy ambience, first restaurant to have toffee apple and sesame seeds on the menu for 45 years - it was delicious. Would be happy to go again.

    Lovely restaurant, lovely food, very attractive staff. Only one complaint we think one of our dishes we ordered was processed chicken.
