Chez Omar is a nouveau Caribbean restaurant. Chef Omar is inspired by his Jamaican roots and Caribbean travels. This location comes as a second iteration of Omar's Kitchen and Rum Bar in NYC's Lower East Side.

Chef Omar's initial interest in Jamaica’s native fruits and vegetables led to an all-out exploration of a culture that blends a Caribbean twang with an urban New York twist.

He grows in his style by experimenting with these cultural blending techniques for friends and family, even dabbling in new ways to curate vegan Caribbean dishes.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly staff and promptly escorted to our table. Our waiter was exceptionally polite and provided us with excellent recommendations, which greatly enhanced our dining experience. The food was simply delicious, with every dish bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The drinks were equally tasty, complementing our meals wonderfully. The ambience of the restaurant was inviting and cozy, making for a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. From the outstanding customer service to the high quality and taste of the food, Chez Omar deserves a perfect 10/10. We highly recommend it and look forward to our next visit.

Picked this place because I needed a restaurant downtown with inside seating. I was pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem. A lot of thought was put into this restaurant from the way it was decorated to the music and menu. The food is a mix of Caribbean and French. Everything we ordered was great! It’s only 2 months old so there are some kinks (like any new restaurant) but nothing major. Definitely worth a try!

The ambiance was great & waitstaff was pleasant. However, the meal was disappointing after being disappointed that many items on the menu were unavailable, given it was lunch & not late night.

All if our food was fresh and delicious . Raves about the mixed blue cheese salad. So good and and enough for two. The branzino was delicious with many fresh vegetables and a mild lemon sauce As well as the mushroom vegetable risotto filled with many vegetables.

Very welcoming, food has a fun twist of French inspired cuisine kicked up with Carribean and maybe African spices. Great quality, prices distinctly below the going rate. Good bargain.

I love the idea of having a French Caribbean spot in the west village. Everyone is accommodating and they want to make sure you’re having a good time! Love the shrimp curry!

even though new, chez omar has the potential to be a neighborhood treasure. lovely space, attentive service and outstanding food. a new york version of a french bistro. bar area is separate and could be a great place for a first date or a romantic triste
