Le dernier de son genre près de la rue 42nd Street, le restaurant Chez Josephine est un petit bijou de quartier fondé en 1986 par Jean-Claude Baker comme un hommage à la légendaire Joséphine Baker. Ce bistrot parisien propose des concerts de piano et un menu alléchant dans un cadre intime avec des murs de velours rouge, une profusion de lustres et un plafond bleu étain. Vous serez reçu chaleureusement comme si vous étiez de la famille, que vous veniez avant ou après un spectacle, pour un dîner tranquille entre les deux ou pour prendre un verre au bar de zinc. Very elegant and lovely place. The food was wonderful the service outstanding. Except - why does Open Table allow one to say that it's a special occasion only to have that occasion ignored completely by the restaurant? The birthday dinner was wonderful except the restaurant did nothing about the birthday - not a single word. I find that off-putting. Other than that, it was quite wonderful.

The owner prefers groups. I had a reservation and he sat me in the back of the restaurant. I couldn’t see the performers.

I have yet to have anything less than a perfect meal at Chez Josephine, and the atmosphere is always ideal for a quiet dinner, either with a romantic partner or with close friends.

Perfect place for dinner after a Matinee. Food is excellent, it's hard to choose from the menu. Tuna tartar and lobster bisque were lovely. Great cozy ambiance. Attentive service. Will definitely dine here again.

Wow is all I can say from first walking in to the ambience, servers, the manager interacting with every guest making you feel like you was literally a part of the family. The dishes absolutely magnificent, the drinks tasty and done right. My husband and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary month kickoff here for dinner before we see our Aladdin on broadway show and we’ll see can’t properly describe our experience because it was just that magnificent. We did the grilled octopus appetizer, duck and sea bass dish, the Hennessy cocktails and the molten chocolate cake. Absolutely delicious and divine. Manager and our waiter was amazing and the piano player and the whole culture of the restaurant. Makes me so grateful that my Mom named me after Josephine Baker. I really felt like royalty here. Thank you so much for such an amazing experience and we will be back. This has become my favorite restaurant ever.

What a delightful restaurant. Cozy. The ambiance was great. Enjoyed the piano music. Food was excellent. Servers provided great service. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
