The Chequers Inn, which is owned and run by the Holmes family, is a traditional rural pub situated in the heart of the Isle of Wight within the beautiful countryside. Our pub is the perfect place to eat, sleep and drink on the Isle of Wight, and also perfect for just stopping by for a pint of traditional local ale.

Our kitchen's aim is to provide fantastic fresh tasty food created with as much local produce as possible, with an elegant and relaxed atmosphere.

Would highly recommend. Lovely food. Good quality. Seated where we had requested due to poor mobility of one member in our party. Pleasant friendly, attentive staff. Can't wait for our next visit.

I had booked a later booking for 6 people and the earliest slot was 7-45, there was no mention on the booking that the carvery might not be available at that time. 5 of the party were going to have the carvery as I’ve had it before and it’s always great. After ordering drinks the bar staff informed us that the carvery had finished! Very disappointing, so we had to order off the normal menu. Such a disappointment. After the meal one of the party wanted Halloumi, only to be told that the grills had been turned off so it wouldn’t be available. Overall a disappointing experience.

Everything was very nice. The food was delicious. Only thing was the plates were cold. They are very dog friendly. The service was good.

We found it very pleasant staff are great. The only down side was when we phoned to see if our dog would be able to go they said yes and we would be in a room on our own. This was because we want a quiet room because of a child who is on the autistic spectrum we was in a room with others. It was OK but it wasn't what we thought it would be

Hi Tina, thank you for leaving us this review. We believe this may have been a miscommunication as we do not have private dining rooms but we have set areas for adults and children.

The staff was amazing and they were so very helpful and I can not thank them enough Also the food was amazing as this was my first time eating here food was as so delicious and fresh And the value for money was great and I loved it

The staff were super, very accommodating. Food was good, we booked the main restaurant “adults” section rather than the family area. The table was great but We were disappointed to have to dine with 2 dogs off lead and barking. Although a child who was with the party was very well behaved the dogs were off putting and roaming free. I think this should be considered but is no way a reflection on the staff, the food or restaurant overall. Just a bit of a tighter policy around other diners thinking this behaviour is acceptable.
