The Chequers Inn, which is owned and run by the Holmes family, is a traditional rural pub situated in the heart of the Isle of Wight within the beautiful countryside. Our pub is the perfect place to eat, sleep and drink on the Isle of Wight, and also perfect for just stopping by for a pint of traditional local ale.

Our kitchen's aim is to provide fantastic fresh tasty food created with as much local produce as possible, with an elegant and relaxed atmosphere.

We were in a group of 12 and found the service to be excellent, not too quick but not too slow. The food quality was very good. We mostly had the Sunday roast carvery. This consisted of four choices of meat and plenty is choices of vegetables. The broccoli cheese was especially good. Half followed this with desserts of which there were plenty to choose from. All in all a great dining experience. It was also good to have a choice of large, small or kids carvery. We will certainly be visiting again. Thank you.

Veg options poor, fish of the day very good but small portion. Booked in advance via open table but they had not got us booked in, even though we had confirmed booking day before on the email open table sent me. Not sure this was open table or the venue to blame but they need to sort this out between themselves

Nice quiet evening so service was excellent. Friendly staff, quick service. Able to accommodate us earlier than our booking. Nice clean surroundings with nice atmosphere. Starters of Crispy Beef and a Prawn Cocktail were lovely and plentiful. Main course of homemade curry and accompaniments was also plentiful and enjoyable, however we felt that the curry was on the bland side for a Tikka Masala. Would definitely go again though. The burger menu looked fascinating but we’d had something similar earlier in the day, hence the curry choice.

Visiting from the North of England, managed to get a table last minute on Sunday just before the England match. Lovely carvery great selection, good range of drinks. Great atmosphere, friendly staff

Great place to get a tasty lunch. Really like their Sunday roasts too. Definitely would recommend and look forward to going back. Dog friendly too

Great place to eat. The food was gorgeous. The service from the young staff members was exceptional. Highly recommended.
