The Chequers Inn, which is owned and run by the Holmes family, is a traditional rural pub situated in the heart of the Isle of Wight within the beautiful countryside. Our pub is the perfect place to eat, sleep and drink on the Isle of Wight, and also perfect for just stopping by for a pint of traditional local ale.

Our kitchen's aim is to provide fantastic fresh tasty food created with as much local produce as possible, with an elegant and relaxed atmosphere.

Nice quiet evening so service was excellent. Friendly staff, quick service. Able to accommodate us earlier than our booking. Nice clean surroundings with nice atmosphere. Starters of Crispy Beef and a Prawn Cocktail were lovely and plentiful. Main course of homemade curry and accompaniments was also plentiful and enjoyable, however we felt that the curry was on the bland side for a Tikka Masala. Would definitely go again though. The burger menu looked fascinating but we’d had something similar earlier in the day, hence the curry choice.

Visiting from the North of England, managed to get a table last minute on Sunday just before the England match. Lovely carvery great selection, good range of drinks. Great atmosphere, friendly staff

Great place to get a tasty lunch. Really like their Sunday roasts too. Definitely would recommend and look forward to going back. Dog friendly too

Great place to eat. The food was gorgeous. The service from the young staff members was exceptional. Highly recommended.

Really nice pub and dining area. The food was brilliant- big portions, great value for money and arrived in good time. The desserts were amazing. Friendly, smiley staff who were attentive and polite. Loved it!

I work on the Isle of Wight every year and have always stayed at the premier Inn. It has become over priced and the food is basic microwave stuff. I wanted a change and came across this little gem. The staff and food were fantastic. The accommodation was great value for money. Very comfortable room and bed. Breakfast is fantastic and sees you right through the day. I shall definitely be staying there every year from now on.
