The Chequers Inn, which is owned and run by the Holmes family, is a traditional rural pub situated in the heart of the Isle of Wight within the beautiful countryside. Our pub is the perfect place to eat, sleep and drink on the Isle of Wight, and also perfect for just stopping by for a pint of traditional local ale.

Our kitchen's aim is to provide fantastic fresh tasty food created with as much local produce as possible, with an elegant and relaxed atmosphere.

We were sat in a family area which was quiet due to the day and time of year. It was quite chilly for some due to a draft coming through the conservatory doors. We had great service , the food was up to the Checquers usual good standard with mostly empty plates returned to the kitchen. We were celebrating a birthday, everyone had an enjoyable evening and we will be returning 😊

Excellent food and great service with welcoming staff. Been a few times now and never had any complaints with food and set in a lovely country location👏

Cannot fault the carvery, amazing as ever. Choice of pork, turkey, ham or beef, or a bit of all. Best cauliflower and broccoli cheese, lots of veg, roasts, Yorkshire pudding. Great value large plate plus desert £20 per person. Great table in a cosy corner. Staff very polite and helpful. Only issue white wine recommended was not nice at all, had to load with ice and lemonade.

Excellent food, the waitresses Rachel and Rosie are really lovely and friendly, have already booked and looking forward to returning.

Most had the carvery. One had Hunters Chicken. All enjoyed good quality food. All were too full for deserts. Very nice experience but a little noisy as other people's conversations carried and echoed.

Would highly recommend. Lovely food. Good quality. Seated where we had requested due to poor mobility of one member in our party. Pleasant friendly, attentive staff. Can't wait for our next visit.

I had booked a later booking for 6 people and the earliest slot was 7-45, there was no mention on the booking that the carvery might not be available at that time. 5 of the party were going to have the carvery as I’ve had it before and it’s always great. After ordering drinks the bar staff informed us that the carvery had finished! Very disappointing, so we had to order off the normal menu. Such a disappointment. After the meal one of the party wanted Halloumi, only to be told that the grills had been turned off so it wouldn’t be available. Overall a disappointing experience.
