    Fine Dining in Kailua Kona IS possible. Unless youʻre staying at or driving (up to an hour) to a high end resort, there are few options. Open Table provides flexible, unique and a variety of "pop-up" dinners created by acclaimed Chefs who know and deliver "fine dining". While the location remains the same, chefs transform the experience through their creations that often include farm-to-table ingredients. While some may balk at the price per person, the total includes tax and tip which weʻve calculated to be the same as or less than the final tab at a high end restaurant. Highly recommend this dining extravaganza, you wonʻt be disappointed. The workshops offered by top chefs are also top notch, whether it knife sharpening, how to select, prep, and serve ahi tuna or making pasta, chefs are knowledgeable, take the time to work with you, and the end result is confidence to be able to take it to the next step and replicate what youʻve learned in class.

    Chefs and Table is a retail shop that has pop up dining experiences 2-3 times per month. It is a community table situation and a great way to meet people. The chefs that the owner brings in have strong reputations in the restaurant industry. This is a way you know you can trust that it will be a great meal. In the past, there have been some meals that did not feel as worth the price, but it seems they’ve worked out the kinks with more courses and better drink parings. It is definitely something I’d recommend to both locals and visitors since our dining options are so limited in Kona. You can find the details for their up coming dinners on their website. I’m already looking to book my next one.

    Such a cool experience! I loved the night t knowing what to expect for the food and the fancy kitchen shopping options they had! I have never seen such beautiful cookware in my life I swear!!!!

    We were looking for a new experience and found it! The owners are very knowledgeable and love to highlight talent while providing opportunities to clients and staff. We chose the kitchen seating before arriving, which were lightly cushioned, swivel, comfortable counter stools with backs. We sat at a u-shaped table setting with a total of 8 people facing the kitchen, as the chefs prepared every course. In the future, we will select traditional seating. It was gorgeous and seemed to have similar detail benefits of the meal as the kitchen atmosphere. Our menu was so delicious and highlighted locally sourced food with a Mexican flare! Portions looked small, but with so many courses, we left satisfied. Each presentation was gorgeous with thoughtful tiny details and flavors carefully considered. Thank you for the wonderful experience Chef Joe and staff! Our chef, Joe Mooney, and staff, were well prepared and fast! Our service of 9 courses (pre-dinner refreshing drink included) was completed in less than 2 hours. Length of the meal all depends on the chef! Great Job Chefs & Table staff and owners. A special shout out to Chelsea for being the sweet, thoughtful person she is—Cherry on the top!

    This was my third time to 'Chefs and Table' for their guest chef tasting events. The first was in May for Chef Ricky of the Sooper Secret Izakaya in Honolulu which was amazing! The incredible flavors and the fun atmosphere he created made for an awesome evening. On tuesday night I experienced chef Ki of Bar Maze which is also in Honolulu. He was nominated for a James Beard and his food was on point! Completely different style from the other chefs and incredibly delicious! It was so much fun watching the chefs in their element creating courses one right after another. I am looking forward to seeing which chef they bring in next!

    Chef James Watt prepared the best multicourse meal we have every had on the Big ISland. The wine pairings were excellent, service was great, it was just a perfect evening!

    Great evening last night at the Chef's & Table. Passionate about their craft of superb flavors in every dish. Everything was cooked to perfection and tender--sauces were out-of-this-world, as well. Butt sore after three hours in the hard chairs--maybe a cushion would help? Staff was perfect in every way and extremely engaging. One of the best dinners I have had on the island in years!

    Chef Vitaly Paley, noted James Beard winner and Iron Chef hosted a fabulous event that showcased his mastery of innovation with a 5-course dining experience that artfully combined traditional French with locally sourced ingredients and Hawaiian flair. The Kanpachi (Blue Ocean mariculture) with crab and Lamb was outstanding and the freshness and flavors of every offering confirmed the amount of planning, attention to detail and resourcefulness needed when floating out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Service was excellent and our group had the honor of sitting in the kitchen with Chef Paley, assisted by Chef Connor and staff who effortlessly created and delivered sumptuous taste treats. Chef Paley, well known for his use of farm-to-table ingredients, menus that reflect creative use of seasonal fruits and vegetables and support of sustainable farming and mariculture that didn’t disappoint. Bravo Chef Paley for an amazing event! The “paddle people” extend Mahalo Nui and IMUA Chefs and Table is a welcome addition to the Community! As a full time resident it is difficult to find fine dining unless driving north to a few select resort restaurants or flying to Honolulu. The concept of highlighting noted chefs who can utilize the certified kitchen and host single-seating meal in an intimate environment is fresh and forward-thinking. The venue seats approximately 12-14 people at the main table and, based upon the chef may also include seating in the kitchen where the Chef can interface throughout the event. This is not a restaurant and therefore no liquor license or full-service bar. The staff who supports dining events are attentive and service is excellent. Dining is “family style”, meaning communal, a great way to interface and meet new friends. Highly recommend Chefs and Table not only for dining delights, try their workshops too! And don’t forget, chances are that the shop will have that one kitchen gadget you’ve been looking for.

    Nothing like having a celebrated chef cook your meal while he explains the preperations and ingredients. And eating at a table of friends mase it a very special occasion!
