Che Fico, is a California Italian restaurant from Chefs David Nayfeld and Matt Brewer in San Francisco's NOPA neighborhood. The food focuses on Italian cuisine through the lens of California. It’s our vision of Northern California as if it is a region in Italy, our connection to the region, and our love for Italian culinary practices. The rustic, market-driven menu features handmade pasta, pizzas, antipasti, housemade salumi, meat, and fish plus dishes from the Jewish-Roman heritage known as “Cucina Ebraica.” The beverage program focuses heavily on both Italian and Californian wines with a cocktail program that utilizes a variety of spirits, amaros, and seasonal ingredients. Che Fico is a place to gather with friends and enjoy warm hospitality, food, and drink, through an approachable menu and convivial ambiance.

    Join us at Che Fico for a special New Year's Eve celebration! We will be ringing in the new year with a four-course family style tasting menu. The four-course menu is priced at $195 per guest (exclusive of gratuity, SF Mandate and tax). We are also offering an optional wine pairing at $90 per person.     Perhaps they were short staffed. Food delivery was slow and the restaurant was not very busy. We had an early reservation for brunch and the restaurant didn’t have hollandaise sauce, which was on the brunch dish I had chosen. I substituted a dish that I would not have otherwise ordered because of its spiciness. It was mediocre.

    The French Toast was delicious and substantial. I brought the rest home for breakfast the next day. The vegetable quiche was barely warm with muddled flavors. The prosciutto cotto was dried out from overcooking. The Salsiccia E Uova was tasty. The biggest issue was the slow service. The manager apologized and said the kitchen was slammed but the time between ordering and service for brunch food was inexcusable. As a nice consolation, the manager gave us an order of delicious apple bread. But overall, the service detracted from the brunch experience.

    The service was great and very friendly. The food was okay. We ordered the potato gnocchi and a pizza. The gnocchi had a good potato flavor, but it was too salty for my liking. The pizza was decent—neither bad nor particularly good. We’ve had dinner here before and really enjoyed the food, but this time I just didn’t like it as much.

    Food tasted completely mediocre. We got the Carne Crudo, Beets Salad, Lasagne Verde, and Agnolotti, and everything failed to impress. Nothing was outright terrible but tended to be bland, over salty, and uninteresting. One of the more disappointing Italian meals we've ever eaten. The service and ambiance was good, though it's quite loud inside. I'm honestly perplexed why this restaurant is popular. It's certainly not the quality of the food.

    Well, great that Che Fico lowered their "SF Business Mandate" dining penalty to 5% of the bill rather than 10% prior, but they made up for it by hiking their prices. Apparently the high priced entrees can be shared (including the $128 Lamb Loin entree) but if that is the case, then perhaps the menu should detail that that they are suitable for sharing. The pizza's are pretty special, but not $32 special for flour, water, cheese, tomato paste, etc. The real zinger is the drinks which at $20 each is a stretch (especially given there is another 5% on top, plus tax, then gratuity so figure ~ $26 for a drink). The bar staff are very impressive as are the rest of the team who I had any contact with. Overall, its a great spot, just be prepared to spend ~ $170+ each for a meal and a few drinks.

    Unassuming entrance, walk up the stairs, and wow! What a beautiful space. We had excellent service, knowledgeable and friendly. Food was amazing- we shared the French Toast and Eggs in a spicy tomato sauce (sorry! I don’t remember their Italian names). We will definitely be back.

    Amazing brunch to celebrate a friends birthday. Our server was warm and friendly. The food and drinks outstanding. Great time overall.
