Che Fico, is a California Italian restaurant from Chefs David Nayfeld and Matt Brewer in San Francisco's NOPA neighborhood. The food focuses on Italian cuisine through the lens of California. It’s our vision of Northern California as if it is a region in Italy, our connection to the region, and our love for Italian culinary practices. The rustic, market-driven menu features handmade pasta, pizzas, antipasti, housemade salumi, meat, and fish plus dishes from the Jewish-Roman heritage known as “Cucina Ebraica.” The beverage program focuses heavily on both Italian and Californian wines with a cocktail program that utilizes a variety of spirits, amaros, and seasonal ingredients. Che Fico is a place to gather with friends and enjoy warm hospitality, food, and drink, through an approachable menu and convivial ambiance.

    You are invited to Shabbat at Che Fico. Friday, November 22 will be a night to enjoy friends, family and food. This is $360 per family (up to 6 people) including a buffet dinner and drink offerings (gratuity is optional on the night of the event). Dinner will start at 6:30PM and run through 9:00PM.     We finally dined here last night after reading great reviews. I had a wonderful martini and the wine list offered my husband an unusual trebbiano—off to a good start. The giardinara was strong flavored and included fennel, cauliflower, shallots & other root veggies pickled well, but some were too raw. We shared a beautiful radicchio salad with apples and a farmstead cheese—large and adequate dressed. We also shared a promising Judy Rodgers pizza, which arrived warm-ish with a snowy flurry of cheese, San Marianos and undetectable oregano—good, but not great. Our Apple crostata was delicious with the flakiest crust—the highlight of the meal! Overall, we had a good meal, but not quite what we imagined it would be. As usual these days, the service disappeared at the end of the meal. A reliance on local ingredients is commendable, but not worth the hype.

    Food is good and the space is beautiful but the service time is dragging down my rating. Ordered right when I saw down and it to 30 minutes for a single brunch appetizer to arrive (two links of sausage). It then took another 30 minutes for the entire, steak and eggs, to arrive. It was also frustrating that in the last 15 minutes of my wait my waiter was clearly avoiding my table not wanting to have to respond to the extended wait. The restaurant was not that busy.

    We are always delighted by the food and drink and service. Some of the best of what SF has to offer in food and beverage happens within Che Fico's beautifully imagined space. Maybe you order an expertly mixed cocktail with Japanese whisky and citrus... or savory gnocchi layered with truffles and aged cheese... or a radicchio salad so good you believe you could eat it every night. We have yet to be disappointed in anything and keep this place at the top of our favorites list for date nights and group gatherings alike.

    The best part of the over-priced, ok meal was the pistachio gelato we were gifted as an apology for our long wait times for our dishes. It really was spectacular.

    It's always fun coming to Che Fico, the vibe is fun. We came for my sister's birthday and sadly although we had a reservation we waited over 30 minutes to get seated. And while the service was great, one of our pasta dishes, the truffle gnocci, was luke warm. If you are going to pay $48 dollars for a plate of pasta, it should be amazing not smushy and luke warm. That aside, the service brought it home and a good time was had by all.

    Food and service were great. Above expectations. But it’s too loud. Turn down the music. It’s unfortunate when you cannot hear your dining companions without shouting. All night…..

    Really delicious food. Pizza was amazing and pasta was very tasty with a myriad of flavors. Service was exceptional! Our waiter was attentive, helpful, efficient and friendly. We had a great dining experience!
