We had a party of 5 ladies, very pleasant attentive staff, food was wonderful, had a couple of pitchers of sangria, everyone enjoyed their dish. Would totally recommend Chateau of Spain. Looking forward to going back.

Our dining experience was wonderful from start to to finish. We arrived early for our reservation and were graciously swept away to our table. The servers were very attentive but not overwhelming. Very eager to please. I read many reviews for The Chateau of Spain, and it seemed the steak on a stone was the most highly recommended entree, but it wasn't on the menu. Our server said they don't put it on the menu any longer because it takes a very long time (I think it was 40 minutes) to heat the stone. The steak came out sizzling on the stone, which still needed to cook. I cut the steak in thick slices then it cooked pretty quickly. The steak was delicious, absolutely delicious. My husband had shrimp scampi and he also enjoyed his meal. Don't forget the red sangria, it's wonderful. I'm not one to post reviews, but the food was exceptional. We will be coming back the next time we see a show at NJPac.

If you are looking for something fancy in downtown Newark, then this is the place. The food is good, prices and ambiance are good. It is great if you just want to make your evening a little extra special, would not recommend for casual dining.

The Portuguese restaurant that isn't in the Ironbound section. Very convenient if you go to Prudential Center for a game or show (2 blocks walk) The food and service were very good. The place was very busy but our party of 2 were seating quickly upon arrival. The bar scene for a Friday was hopping and the music/noise level was a little loud but not offensive. Garlic shrimp appetizer was very good as were the entrees. I had a veal and Spanish sausage dish that was very tasty and the portion was large. My friend had the Salmon covered in garlic shrimp and he was extremely happy with it. The red sangria was very good also. No room for dessert. Definitely recommend this place although the Friday/Saturday night crowd has to be your thing. I've had the "stone steak" here in the past and also recommend it.
