As soon as Amy Chanta flung open the doors in 1989 Chat Thai became an instant smash hit with Sydney diners already familiar with Thailand and no appetite for compromising on ingredients, flavours, textures and aromas. Searching all across Sydney for the correct vegetables, herbs and sauces Amy was able to set herself apart through a stubborn dedication to reminding diners of their unforgettable food experiences on the streets of Bangkok.

Three decades later we are proud to continue Amy’s vision by adding organic vegetables from Boon Luck Farm to serve up authentic Thai dishes we ourselves want to eat. Unique flavours the Thai diaspora crave from the motherland but struggle to find outside of their own home cooking.

Fair service but bad food quality. I ordered Tom Yum Soup, which looked like left from last table— few amount of soup with poor vegetables. Also, the soup tasted like they put sauce bought from the market with water as 1:10. I can’t tell if it’s Tom Yum soup or water with Tom yum sauce.

Loved the food, the staff were friendly and smiley, but not enough of them seemed very understaffed and most were in the kitchen - we waited 10 to 15 mins for drinks, the food came quickly enough but the empty plates were left to stack up and just sat there for the whole meal, we had to make our own space by stacking the plates and cups. Maybe its a different way of service, but i'd say it was very unattentive and you'd had to go order more drinks or food by getting up and going over to the bar counter.

As soon as we arrived, a waitress came. Despite I told her I made a booking for dinner, she didn’t seem to listen and put us the table near the entry. I kindly asked her if we could sit a bit inside then she looked uncomfortable then we couldn’t. Though, there were many empty seats as we booked at 5. After telling her I booked for good table few days ago, then she changed the table. We all felt unwelcome there.

We always visit Chat Thai - when we come back to Sydney and they never disappoint! Food is always tasty, authentic and good !

Food at reasonable prices (in Sydney CBD), tastier than our local Thai restaurants, served quickly by friendly staff. All good.

Love it here that’s why we keep coming back. Very good food selection. The staff are friendly and Even if we haven’t been to Thailand, dining here makes me feel like I have.
