Chart House always stands out! Great view of the ocean coupled with great food and great service. Excellent menu selections as well. Highly recommend Chart House in Cardiff!!

Waitress was inattentive. Was not busy when we were there, but she seemed distracted. Not very social, hardly said anything dropped off the food and didn’t return to check on us. We had to chase her down to pay our bill after waiting a half hour for her to return.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Chart House - Cardiff last night! W had an earlier reservation time so were able to secure a table at the window to watch the sunset which was spectacular. We were looking for a leisurely dinner and the wait staff did not push us along but accommodated our pace. The waitress recommendations when I was not able to choose between two items were helpful and spot on. Same for wine by the glass recommendations. I selected the NY Strip with blue cheese butter. It was cooked a perfect medium-rare as requested and the steak was very, very tender. My wife had the black ink linguine with seared scallops and shrimp. Again a delicious dish, albeit it a little too heavy on the butter sauce. Although this restaurant has some great desserts, we were so full since we also had soup and salad, respectively, there was not room for dessert. All in all another great experience at this Chart House.

I have been in San Diego for work for almost two weeks, and I wanted a great meal with a beautiful view before I left. I had the prime rib, and it was everything for which I had hoped. On top of the great food was friendly service and an amazing view of the ocean. I am not sure there is a bad seat in the restaurant. The only thing missing was my wife and daughter who weren’t able to travel with me for work.

I always hope for a window table but realize it’s not always possible. Service and food was very good but Caesar salad was a little soggy. Seared ahi is my favorite and never disappoints. My husband had scallops that he said were wonderful, as was the clam chowder. The view at ChartHouse Cardiff is second to none. Saw a dolphin making his way south and he was the cherry on top of a very nice evening.

We celebrated my wife's birthday. The location was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service was 5 stars. We will definitely be back!

It was date night for my hubby and myself . It was also our first time coming to Chart House. Our waitress was really awesome, and the food was amazing .

It started out slow with a 10 minute wait for our table (6pm reservation - 6:10pm seating). Then it took 10 minutes for the waiter to say hello and offer us water (short staffed for restaurant week - management issue). Food was decent, but steak was overcooked. There was also an abundance of liquid on the plate, which made the mashed potatoes soupy. All and all, I love this place. Great view, great drinks, for the most part great food. Jose, our server was outstanding! They just seem to be off. Definitely not firing on all cylinders. The good far outweighs the bad.

We arrived 10 minutes early, and were told somewhat impatiently that we would have to wait until our reservation time to be seated. We went to the bar and ordered drinks/appetizers, but the bartender messed up my drink twice and ended up having to comp one. When the hostess came to seat us, she insisted that we close the tab at the bar instead of rolling it over to dinner, and told us we would have to carry our drinks and food ourselves. She then waited impatiently with a few menus in our hands while my kids, husband, and I tried to gather our sweaters, jackets, purses, drinks, and food to follow her. Our waiter was very kind, but obviously overworked as the restaurant was apparently understaffed. He also confessed without guile that "restaurant week is always a nightmare" and he couldn't wait for it to be over -- it's not his fault at all but the restaurant's for under staffing. A few of the dishes on the menu were good but the sirloin steak was dry, the yams undercooked, and the encrusted salmon flavorless. The restaurant ran out of two desserts we ordered so the waiter just decided what we wanted for substitutes and served them. When we left, the valet was again alone and took 10 minutes to get our car, which we were standing next to. Meanwhile, the bill was over $350 for a family of five during restaurant week and so not worth the price!

Food was mediocre at best and the chocolate cake we took home it enjoyed was burnt-tasting.
