Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

We are never disappointed at Charlie's...the food is excellent, a really nice setting, and great service. However, this time it seemed a bit noisier than usual. But we are still huge fans and it's been a favorite of ours since we moved here in 2003.

We have eaten for years here & it has always been excellent. However, I have two issues that have arisen the last couple of weeks. Last week five of us ordered martinis. We were all disappointed in them. They have reduced the size of the glasses & the martinis themselves were below par. We have always enjoyed their martinis but I wish we had all sent them back. The second issue was the noise level. It got so loud in the front dining room, after a large group was seated near us, we had to ask to be seated elsewhere. They were very nice about moving us to an outside table which made our meal much more enjoyable. Overall we had a great time but I hope they address the noise level issue & return their martinis to their former glory.

Our server, Val, did an excellent job and both of us enjoyed our meals…..the halibut with coconut rice was so flavorful! We are part-time residents here and this is one of our favorite go spots for a special night out.

Another great night at Charlie's! We brought a couple visiting from out of town and they thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Charlie's has the best seafood on the island - hands down. The service was great as usual, and the bartender, Jeff, who has been at Charlie's for years, is probably the best bartender in HHI.

So nice to have a wonderfully reliable and consistent eatery, with a wonderful regular menu as well as tempting and tasty special items. Charlie’s never disappoints!

We were there this time for lunch. the beef stew was delicious, as was the fish salad. Parking was easy, we were able to have a booth, and our wait-person, Lauren, was terrific. This is a really first-rate restaurant!
