Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

Was just ok… if it’s cold you will need to dress warm if you are seated on the porch. Based on the number of folks who were present and waiting, this is a premier place. Maybe we just had a dud dish of fish.

Being a restaurant owner myself this my go to place to eat!! Jeff and Anthony are the best and always provide not only excellent service but an experience. Could type for hours about Charlies and their entire staff. Bottom line great people added to excellent food equals unbelievable experience.

Charlie's has the best food on the island, and never disappoints! We sat outside on a cool evening, and it was lovely and quiet. They provided blankets and a heating lamp at each table. Anthony was a great server and very friendly. I had the redfish, my wife had monkfish. Excellent!

The food was excellent. Our server, Amanda, was great. I always like to sit in her section because she gives great recommendations and has such a positive attitude.

Our 10th consecutive Valentine's dinner at Charlies, and they never disappoint. Food was exceptional, and served hot (important for seafood), with a great variety. Service was excellent (thanks, Lucas). Overall, a wonderful evening, pricey, but you get what you pay for, and this was excellent.

A wonderful Valentine's Day dinner with excellent service from Patrick and Lucas. The lump crab egg rolls and house pate were great starters. We enjoyed the red fish and the shrimp, crab, and scallops cakes. Excellent wine list and cocktails.

Going to Charlie's on Valentine's Day is always a treat. My husband got the scallops and I had the filet. Both were outstanding. I also like that their meals come with a salad, potato and vegetable. The Chocolate fondue plate for dessert was delicious. Service was excellent! My only complaint would be that we asked for a booth upon arrival. There were several open in the room in which we were seated. We were told that they could not move us to a booth because they had to balance their servers. Ok, I understand that yet not even 5 minutes later, they seated a couple in the booth that we had requested. That did not make me very happy.

Excellect wait staff. Great food. But, our valentine celebration took a turn upon arriving. We were informed our reservation was for outdoor seating. I explained that when we booked on the open table app there was no option for porch or outdoor seating. Only standard was offered, which implied inside seating. I discussed this with my wife as we were booking and were happy inside seating was available. (We have dined at Charlies on special ocasions over sevrral years and dined inside and outside) The rude head waiter proceeded to insist that our outside table 52 was just fine and quiet unlike the inside. To be fair, looking at the reservation that evening showed outdoor seating. (A glitch in the open table app?we also overheard others with the same issue) although having a personsl heater and a supplied blanket was provided. Our waiter explained that the heaters high setting was broken. We were not dressed for outdoor seating on a chilly night. So we ordered quickly. Brought half of our dinners home as well as our desert. But, as a resturant that requires an up front deposit for booking, we expected better. At least the execellent experiences we had in the past. We will be considering other resuerants for special occasions going forward.

Food and wait staff were great, but I can’t believe they seated us outside for V-day. The hostess ignored my displeasure. Her attitude alone altered a 10 rating down to a 4!

The crusted cod fish was frozen, dry and tasted like cardboard. I should have sent it back. Overpriced at $30 also. My wife had the carbonara and it was oil-based instead of more cheese and egg. Very little bacon and not much taste.
