CHARCUT is a proud female majority-owned and operated destination restaurant and bar from Calgary’s CHAR Hospitality Group – founded by Carrie Jackson and acclaimed chefs Connie DeSousa and John Jackson. Our menu draws inspiration from Italian and Portuguese traditions, a nod to Connie’s heritage, while celebrating seasonal, artisanal, and thoughtfully sourced ingredients. From our handmade pastas and vegetable-forward sharing plates to our house-cured meats, butcher cuts, and rotisserie prime rib of Alberta beef, we take a back to basics, back to flavour approach by evolving simple ingredients. CHARCUT offers a true neighbourhood restaurant experience, a place to gather and connect over great food, drinks, conversation, and company.

We loved the atmosphere and our server was exceptional. It’s casual but upscale. We will definitely be back.

Very disappointing. We asked for champagne on arrival and it was not ready. I had to ask again and then it came in wine glasses. The steaks were full of gristle. The server did not know the menu.

We stopped in for a Sunday dinner as a family. The restaurant had us seated quickly and at a nice table with a few outside. Service was excellent with the waiter always being there when we wanted him without hovering. The food was so good! If you want a great charcuterie board this is your place.

Overall amazing - great service and food. The drinks were also outstanding. It’s a loud and energetic, very open restaurant which wasn’t exactly what we were looking for for this date night but that’s more on us for not researching more and going to a place that has recently opened when we wanted something a bit more quiet. I’ll be back though for dinners with friends or colleagues and I’m glad this location has opened in the NW. My only criticism for the food was the deconstructed cheesecake - it tasted amazing but the presentation was really lacking - I was keeping in mind it is deconstructed, but the plating seemed sloppy. As another note - the pizzas looked absolutely incredible and we heard other tables talking about how good they were - we regretted not ordering one to share before our main course, amazing pizza and amazing steak in the same meal would be a dream come true. Thanks for the amazing steaks, drinks, and appetizers - we’ll be back again soon.

Hello Thank you for the detailed feedback we appreciate the time you took to let us know. The pizza are definitely worth a second trip! We do like to keep the energy high! We can always find that special quiet table, just let us know. We will take a look at the cheesecake to see if we can tighten up the presentation a little Thanks again for the feedback

Lovely, it was my friend's birthday and they had a helium balloon at the table and gave us complimentary bubbly as a treat. Lunch was excellent.

Second time it has happened to me: we were initially seen by a knowledgeable 30-something server only to have her return to our table and say she has been sent home and someone else’s would be “taking care” of us. The 20-something server came by and it was wait wait wait wait wait. I guess they figured it would be a slow night. I wonder what is going on there. Their maître d’ has left and they have only been open a few months. People dining elsewhere will cost the restaurent more than keeping and extra server on hand.
